A domain name is one thing. Hosting a website is quite another. Just 'owning' a domain name does not immediately mean that you have a 'professional' website! You can never BUY a domain. You can only ever RENT it. Domain names are allocated by several bodies (depending on the location and the final part of the domain name - .com, .org, .inf, .co.uk, .co.in, &c. They are then rented to you for a minimum of a year by companies who deal with the 'sale' (actually, 'rental') of the name and will usually also handle the allocation of that name to a particular server or host. Once you have a domain name, you will then have to assign it to the server which hosts your website. You may choose to redirect it to a 'free' service (such as Blogger/Blogspot, Wordpress.org or one of the many others) or you may pay for hosting. Hosting is usually charged on a monthly basis and the price varies, depending on the facilities you require. Some companies will charge you for hosting (per month) and give you a 'free' domain name. In some cases, this means that, although you choose the name, it is the company that pays the fee on your behalf and who becomes the registered 'owner'. If you then wanted to change your hosting company, you would find that you would NOT be able to transfer the domain to a new host!

I've been to free (blogspot, webs, weebly) and I got 1 domain From Godaddy and for me it's ok because I got it as a gift and it's accessible for me @ wordpress.. They are all right, If you are not yet stable for traffic, better not to own a domain because you need to pay for it yearly if you want to keep it. :/ I use blogspot as my diary online, webs I've used as my youth org site .. Only that webs has limited storage for free users. So among all free sites to use, bloggger/blogspot is the best for me :) Good luck on your blogging/site!

The answer is NO. The Governing body of Domain name is ICANN.And it has set up some rules regarding Domain name registration. And as per that a domain name should not be sold, instead the domain name can be owned for a maximum of 10 years and later on it has to be renewed in order to own it. You can register domains at ICANN accredited domain registrars' website ( site: http://www.9cubehosting.com/cheap_domains/ ).
