Here's a nice little speech from Barack Obama on the importance of secular government: http://youtu.be/df6vXLytoWg

When Obama stated who Christianity should be teached in the schools he left one out, his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright's religion. As I stated in the Mitt Romney post these politicians just say what they think people want to hear. Well, if you are a realist then you know what religion has done to our world and mental health. It is time that we as human beings stop pretending like a all knowing supreme being is going to come down from heaven and save us. If this was so, why is the people in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy begging for help from the government and from anyone else who can give it to them.

He's probably a bit embarrassed about his past association with Jeremiah Wright these days. Agree about Hurricane Sandy - If you pray to God you won't get help, and if you pray to the government you may or may not get help. Best to rely on yourself, friends, family and neighbours. Thanks for replying.

To remove God from our nation we would have to remove our Constitution. That may be what he wants.

And how is that?

That link's broken, whatever it is. In any case, at no point did Obama mention a desire to "remove God from out nation" - how would you even do that? The speech was about the necessity of having a secular governmental system, which is incidentally what's laid out in your constitution.

Citizen_Stuart, if you're interested in reading why America is a Christian nation, go to Wallbuilders and look under "Is President Obama Correct: Is America No Longer a Christian Nation? by David Barton. You misunderstood me. I was saying Obama may want to remove our Constitution. Since the United States does not have a state religion, I don't see the necessity for Obama's speech.

Good find. I hope he was not pandering. I hope during his second term he will see that Christianity is no longer dominating our country.

Well they say politics is the art of the possible. I expect Obama's biggest worry over the next four years will be the economy. Just trying to fix that will probably give both Rep and Dem politos plenty of sleepless nights.
