Recognition at Work

Yesterday I was at work when one of the managers came up to me with a slip of paper and started reading off what it said. It was a little paragraph about me and how I'm doing such a good job in my new position and that I'm always ready to work hard and give great customer service and then at the end it said "I'm very proud of Courtney O'Connor". I was shocked and I wondered who said that about me because I know we hand out little cards for the customers to fill out an online survey and be entered to win a $250 gift card to the store. Last week I gave one out to a customer and I thought that's who it was from. But it was actually the manager who wrote that about me and it ended up going up on the wall with a few other associate recognition papers. I thought it was such a nice thing that my manager said about me and it made me feel really great. About half an hour earlier he had asked me how I was liking the new position and he said that everyone loved how I was doing and thought I had been doing really well. Hearing that made me feel really great. Nothing like that had ever happened at my old job and I never got nice compliments like that. The only time I ever got a compliment was when I made a $7500 sale to one guy. Other than that, my old job never cared about me.

Recognition and appreciation are very important to keep the employees motivated. Actually, just a pat on the shoulder could make one feel really great having the thoughts that hard work and results are appreciated. You are lucky to have a manager that appreciate a job well done. Rewarding is a different story. In my previous work, I got the appreciation but was never rewarded. In my current job, after my two months in the company my good work was rewarded somehow which I, as an employee, appreciated very much that my employer have the thoughts to reward my good work. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Getting recognized definitely inspires me to keep doing what I've been doing and possibly get recognized again in the future. I think rewards would also be nice. I just recently got a small promotion that came with a little pay raise so in a way, that was my reward for working hard. Hopefully I can keep getting recognized for what I do and things keep going well.

That's great their finally recognizing you and all your hard work you do at the job. Where I work they our finally recognizing people too and we have employee of the month where my boss picks one person each month as employee of the month and we get a gift if we are chosen. It is based on how well we do our work and what we accomplish. I think it's nice a job does that because it makes you want to come back to work every day knowing you're being appreciated and that your customers and coworkers enjoy what you do every day and want to work with you. Most places don't do this and that's why those people don't like their job much because they don't get along with their workers.

Hey congratulations! This is really a great contrast from your previous job. And it's even greater that it's the manager who recognized this. I know that this could just be management technique, but sometimes all we need is a good pat on the back. And sometimes things like this could go a long way. Good on you!

I think they write up the recognition whenever they feel someone has gone above and beyond. Everyone who gets one of the write ups gets a copy for themselves as well as having a copy put up on the board for the month. Even if it is a management technique, I think it's nice to have your employees recognized for their hard work. It definitely made me feel a lot better and more comfortable that I was succeeding in my new position that I was given.

Your manager deserves some recognition as well. It sounds like he is doing his job of motivating his workers and not trying to take all of the credit for their work! I wish my manager was more like that. I am currently training to take on a management position and I hope that I can recognize employees and create a positive work atmosphere like that. What a great work environment!

The managers I work with really are amazing. They appreciate the employees and don't act like they're better than the associates just because they're a manager. They're all very encouraging and extremely helpful. Our store has only been open a month so it's kind of been a learning experience for everyone. It's a nice change from where I used to work where some of the managers acted like they were better than you and talked down to the employees. I was miserable working there. Good luck with your management position! I think you'll be fine as long as you remind yourself to be encouraging and down to earth. An awesome manager can make all the difference in a work environment

my boss is pretty good about noticing the good jobs that his employees have done. we work for a not for profit organization and he gives us off the week between Christmas and New Years as a gift but also does stuff for us during the year like take us out for lunch.

It is very essential in a workplace to have this what we called recognition. It is a motivation for us to work hard. It is one of the factors why some employers apply this kind of motivation. Some employers give incentives as a reward for their efforts and attainment. This kind of motivation really effective especially on the business rendering services to the customers.

Your manager maybe a more motivated one, and he knows his members will be more devoted through the recognition. And your case also illustrated that mostly how you behave in your work is in your manager's eye. If you have an excellent performance, you will certainly get reward.. However, if you play negatively in your work, maybe you will also get punished!!

The most important asset the company has is it's people. I salute to your management by the initiative and not failing their personnel to be recognized when necessary. I believe you just deserve the recognition and keep it up!
