Do you suffer from SSL when you do the food shopping?

Don't panic you haven't missed a new term, I have just made it up. It stands for SLOPPY SHOPPING LIST and what I mean by it is the following.... I always do my food shopping on a wednesday. Every week I make an on going shopping list...... ie when I finished something I write it down so I can put it on my proper food shopping list, same if I either miss something off my proper shopping list or if the shop hasn't got it. Every week I always say I shall have the list finished and priced by Tuesday night... and every week I fail ..due to my own laziness so means wednesday morning I have to put the pc on and log into the Tesco website and hurrily write the proper shopping list and price it, take items off list etc as I have gone over budget etc and write my list down on paper so I can go to the supermarket and not overspend and ensure we have enough food items on it to feed us for the whole week. I must say we have never straved or gone without many things, but every week I say I shall do it by Tuesday night etc and I never do it. Do you suffer from Sloppy Shopping List sysdome? Hope I have made you smile at the beginning of this weekend? Hope so

I always do my shopping on the same dy of the month. The 3rd is when my SSD appears in my account. We have a pretty tight budget and I usually have the grocery list made out about two weeks before shopping day. That way I don't forget anything. I hate to forget because the store is quite a ways from home.

We have two sets of big cupboards in the kitcen. Plus over the sink and above the frig where we could store canned food and bagged food. With the people who believe there is going to be a holocaust in he country I would like to be saving food and stocking up. I wish we could do shopping every two weeks like we used to when I was working.

you mean you price stuff? what a concept! The roomie writes things down like "fruit" and "beef" If I make a shopping list - or if I'm going to go shopping for the roomie or my client, it has to be more specific...

Yes I price stuff so I have a total of how much I shall be spending in the shop, I never list the whole amount of money I have to spend, try and save £5 or so back so I can impluse a buy if I see one or buy some items off the reduced sections that have been reduced enough for my budget. Also I visit the cheap shop next door before I go into the supermarket as a few items there are cheaper so need to write the prices down to compare that I am getting the best value for my money. I used to just write down fruit, beef etc years ago but now I have to be so much more careful with the money and try and spend as little as possible and get everything ot feed us for the week. I also like other people ot be specific if I'm going ot shop for them

i do write thing on my list as i realize i need them and i suppose it can be messy. we shop only once a week and its generally Friday because that is when the sales start and after checking out the flyer than generally comes on Thursday, that is when i make my list. however, in saying that, i just got a BlackBerry Playbook which has several grocery list apps which i am planning to use very shortly. i have already been putting on stuff for Christmas that i want to buy.

I just have a basic phone, just to make calls on and text from, thats all I need and can cope with. My on going list is stuck on the kitchen cupboard and I add to it like you during the week when I use something up, but don't alway buy that item that week as there may be something else more important and that is used more often to buy that I will need to buy and the other item can be put off until the next week. That I am very good doing, its the proper list I am very lazy about. Very bad really as I used ot have it all done by Monday night and not used all the money so it I needed to add something I could do so on Tuesday etc, now I rushing on wednesday's which is very bad as I have proved I can do it!

Since I live on my own I have no problem with my shopping list I got a budget and stick to it yes I do write all I need on my list but if I go over the budget I get rid of this and that and make do with what I get...it was different when the family was living at home then I had to please every one.

I also had no problem when I lived on my own. I also do put some things back as I'm working my way around the supermarket.

There is a shop next door ot Tesco's which does sell some items cheaper than Tesco's thats why I always write the prices on my shopping list and go there first. I saved over £2 this week by during that, meaning I can either buy the family a treat with the saving or a couple of saving stamps for the supermarket. Noticed some more cheaper prices so can save more next week. I try to keep the cost down as best I can. I never spend more that £50 per week for the five of us and that includes the cleaning stuff etc

I sometimes make a list when I'm checking the weekly flyers, but I don't always take it with me. I usually buy things when they're on sale, so I don't "run out of" things too often.

The small corner shops do flyers that come in the free newspapers. I tend not ot og and try and buy these offers as everyone goes and buys and everytime I go the shelves are empty and I tend to buy something I don't really need as I feel guilty leaving the shop with nothing!

LOL, probably not, as I am a compulsive shop ahead if it is on sale buyer. Instead of making a list of staple items, I have a few things on my list, but most of the stuff that ends up in the shopping cart are impulse items based on scratch'n'dent/sale prices. Then I plan the meals around the cheap stuff we bought. This week's example was fresh vine-ripened tomatoes that were on special for pennies on the dollar, so we bought scads of them and I did home made BBQ sauce for ribs and chicken and spaghetti sauce. I seldom have to rush to the store to get something we are out of because there are usually lots of alternatives in the cupboards or freezer. Mostly just milk and eggs and bananas are actually on the list.

Thats good as well. I wish sometimes someone would just deliver me some food goods for my food budget and then I just had to make meals from it, then I wouldn't have ot menu plan that week before I went ot the shops

At themoment I sduffer from duplication of effort and this is due to poor communication I suppose. My son and his family live with me and there is a weklynshopping list doen by my DIL but it is never complete so we all seem to remember to buy the same thing on the same day. So £ gallons of juice instead of one. This sort of thing. In my own I am so organised as I canot live disorganized very well. I don;t function too well without a list or a plan. I sometimes wish that I was more of a on the spur of the moment kady but I havr always budgeted

LOL...I suffer from NSL(No Shopping List) Syndrome Unless I am needing something that I don't normally go for, I don't usually write it down. Now with that being said, I have wanted to do better in this area and start to make shopping lists before I go but I am always on the fly and never commit to it.

Well don't we sometimes feels lazy doing the list. But me however, i really make it a point to make a shopping list before going to the supermarket. That's because i tend to forget some items and instead end up buying another not needed things. I also have an allowance for would be purchase that isn't in the list. That way, i am still within my budget.
