http://mlr.allfreecrochet.com/redir.php/b/VTJOejIwMC02MDg0OC0xNTU2OTI1LTQyNjc3NjQ~// This is a link to a free newsletter that publishes free crochet patterns. Most of them are simple and some of them are for more advanced crocheters. Maybe you can find some things to help here. I never learned how to knit and I learned how to crochet by following a pattern. I have done some other types of crafts and I draw and paint some, too. Mostly though I crochet.

You are quite welcome. I, too, use crocheting for it's therapeutic benefits. It helps my mind relax and the arthritis in my hands.

I'm a beginner too in craft world, I learn how to crochet and knit by watching video on youtube and also reading tutorial books. But Im more focusing in Crochet because I find that Knitting is more complicated because of the needles but in crochet there are more stitches to learn than in knitting. In Crochet there are more stitches to learn like chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, triple crochet, quadruple crochet. With the basic stitch we can combine it to make bullion stitch, V stitch, crocodile stitch, etc. We only need 1 crochet hook needle, in my opinion it is faster and more simple. We don't need to change our crochet needle if we want to make hat or square, it can be done by following the pattern. But in Knitting there are 4 basic stitch we need to learn: Knit stitch, Purl Stitch, Yarn Over, twisted knit. Knitting is using 2 straight needles but they are more variation of the needles like Cable Needle, Double pointed needle, Single Pointed Needle, Circular Needle (it is used to make circular shape like hat, etc. Other alternative if we don't have circular needle we can use a set of 5 double pointed needles). For me, it is easier reading the symbolic pattern instead of reading written pattern. Here is the link if you want to learn the crochet symbol http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/chart_crochet.html There are another projects that I would like to learn like learn how to crochet with Tunisian/Afghan needle, Knitting with loom, Tatting (art of crochet in making lace using tatting shuttle), I also want to learn beading, sewing with felt,

Bernat (http://www.bernat.com/learntocrochet.php) has a good online page on beginner's crochet that might help. I don't crochet so I can't help you other than that. The difference between crochet and knitting is quite a bit, actually. Knitting uses two straight needles while crochet uses one hooked needle. Common knit fabric is simply one stitch built upon another, which crochet can take may directions and add many stitches to each stitch individually. It's hard to explain! Anyway, besides felt and crochet there is knitting, tatting, needlepoint and embroidery that you might look at.
