Nowadays there are more and more sickness among men. Although medical treatments are advancing, but we are facing more serious illnesses and some still can never be cured. Day by day, many lives are taken away. We see people dying everyday especially in the hospitals. How short life can be...? I would like to share about "Spinocerebellar Atrophy". It is a cruel illness that picks among the random. It is not through inheritance, but by random!!! There are different types of spinocerebellar degeneration. The degree of progression of the disease will differ between people. In a human brain, 14 billions of neurons and, which are instructing the neuron, exist. Those neurons are divided into central nerves and peripheral nerves, and the central nerves are divided again into: cerebrum, diencephalons, cerebellum, brain stem and spinal cord. Among them, those which work for the body to move smoothly and freely are cerebellum, brain stem and the spinal cord. For this patients, compare with the normal brain image, their cerebellum is atrophying. The illness, for some reason, causing the cerebellum to atrophy, and because of that, the neurons inside are starting lose. In other words, think of it as “starting to be broken”. [The symptom is slow, but surely progressing]. At first, there is no subjective symptoms, but you then can see the unsteadiness when the person is walking. The person often stumble, unable to measure the distance, or maybe could not write well and cannot speak properly. However, even though the nerves to move the body are malfunctioning, but there is nothing wrong with the mental. It's just that the person can’t move the body even when he or she wants to, and can’t speak even when he or she tries to. The body will be aware of its condition. This is such a very cruel disease. Even according to doctors, as far as they know, no one has made it to full recovery. Seeing patients with Spinocerebellar Atrophy illness really breaks my heart. It was not their choice to get such sickness, but it just befall on them by random. And what makes it worst is that there is no cure for it! How heart saddening it is... Have you come across this illness? Please share your thoughts about this.

Thanks for sharing this info. Oh, she was too young to die. I guess we don't know when to get this or other sicknesses so we'll just need to be careful, live healthy, and enjoy our lives. Thanks for the reply.

I doubt there is more sickness or more serious illnesses. I think they always been there but many never had a name. Also people do get older so we have more time to get other kind of illnesses. Last week it was in the news that although medical treatmeants did advance it turned out to be useless if it comes to be more succesful in healing. So this means we already waste money since years world wide. Money that can easily be used by helping out people for real. There are still plenty of people worldwide dying because of the flu, have all kind of illnesses because of the lack of a certain kind of vitamine or mineral. Many illnesses won't be their or way less or less serious if something would be done about that. But seems to me science is way more interested in using money for science itself, not willing to share knowledge with other people/other countries to keep the costs low(er). Me and a friend are sponsering/supporting a house for people with (heavy) problems/illnesses of the nerve system. If you have been there you feel so lucky no matter how bad your own health is. I can assure you that.

Hi WakeUpKitty, that is really kind of you and your friend to help sponsoring a house for people with nerve system illness. Wish they would get well soon. Well yes, throughout the centuries there had been many diseases and sicknesses, some we may not have even come across or heard of it yet. Sick people before our eyes is always the hardest to bear because we have feelings and care for them. Apart from natural sicknesses, in today's society, many business people inventing food in an unhealthy form to make profits but in return sacrificing the people's health. Why are there more and more illnesses? Main reason comes from the type of food we eat and the environment we are living in. On the one hand we are taking care of our health, on the other hand, we cannot stop what is coming if the cruel sickness strikes on random people. This is what most saddening.

There are actually a lot of diseases of unknown origin. And eve though we have become advanced in technology, still researchers have not found a cure for them. So we can say that not all of us are safe no matter how much we take care of ourselves if this kind of disease becomes rampant.

Hi jenny1015, yes you are right. There are a lot more diseases out there which are unknown to us. And this is really frightening. But to come across a random illness which bring sudden disaster to the family is not something that everyone can take it. Much funds has been allocated and used for research and development of medical and sciences, but yet still not being able to cure Spinocerebellar Atrophy. This illness has been spread since 1980s...but not much advances has been done for this. =( Yeah, it is really not safe regardless how much we take care of our health if this kind of illness were to take place.
