Watching Disturbing Movie Scenes in a Public Vehicle

Have you ever ride on a bus with the driver and other passengers watching disturbing and steamy films? How do you feel about it? I did experience that and as a woman, I feel embarrassed. It scares me to stay longer inside the bus as something bad might happen. Most of the time I sit on an empty spot. But since it's a public bus, the chances of having a stranger sit beside you are not impossible. It's okay if it's of my same gender. But if it's a guy and the bus is full, I don't have a chance but to guard myself of any possible harassment. Guys often look at the ladies beside them when they watch those types of scenes. I hope our government will implement strict rules as to what kind of movies is allowed to be presented inside a public vehicle. If you're a man, what do you feel about it? If you're a woman, how do you deal with it?

jeeez, that's one of those horrible moments to be in! The first thing that I would feel about the situation is, why the hell on this earth did i have to get into this bus today , the next thing, why the hell did this guy have to sit next to me today or the other way round depending on who was there first. The next thing is that, i don't know man! If at all that guy is to even turn to me to give me some weird looks, then for sure it is not going to be a great day for him. First thing I would do is, give him a very very very cold look. As hard as I can. Still if he tries something more , then I don;t know, may be I would just get down the bus, or may be, depending on how bad he behaves, he will heavily pay for it. I am a strong person and I will handle it that way But if the guy sitting next to me hasn't got any bad intentions or something like that, or if he also feels all that embarrassed to be sitting next to me, then I would just laugh it out and ask him to forward the scenes or just flip the channel or just switch it off.

Hi 5mahi05! I love the way you shared your thoughts on this kind of situation. That's almost exactly the way I think but I'd rather not give any guy a single look not unless I know him. He might think I'm interested to him. OMG! I admire your braveness especially for asking someone to change the channel. That's nice. A had fun reading your response. Have a great day! You deserve to have the best response award. I make sure I mark someone's advice or comment per discussion I make and in any other myLot member's.

hi mate, true that even I wouldn't look at some stranger just like that and specially in this situation I wouldn't even want to turn to his side. But you know, we girls can sense those sort of looks that are very much uncomforatable and those obscene looks and the vibes are very bad. When I feel something like dirty vibes around me, then I will just give him that cold look. Yes, we need to be brave enough in some situations. You know, In a place like what I live in, there are guys, if we just try to ignore somethings like this, they will take advantage of those and try to try something even more further to not may be me only but may be another girl, which is again a bad thing. It is us who should stand for ourselves and let the guys know that "these are the things that offend me and I am not taking in any such disgusting things from your side". One or the other day, they would fear behaving wrongly to any girl.

Wow, you picked the BR fast there didn't you??? I haven't been on a public bus in years and I don't know where you live, but I wonder if in America, they have movies playing on buses. If so I'd do everything I can to avoid riding the bus, because who chooses what is played? Because no matter what is played, someone will be offended and I think playing a movie in public like that is totally wrong.

Hi carmelanirel. Whenever I participate in any discussion here on myLot, I see to it that I choose a member who has the best response from my own point of view. It's my way of appreciating their time in sharing their thoughts about a certain topic. I might choose yours too one day. The driver is the one who decided which type of movie he wants to watch. Good thing that you have not encountered that awkward situation yet. I experience it for two to three times in a year. Either in an air-conditioned or ordinary bus, there's a chance of being in that situation here in our country. Most of the time I don't have a choice to transfer into another bus. Like when it's late night that I am on my way home. Have a great day!

Hi Candy, I wasn't asking for a BR, I really don't care if I get one or not, just when I give them out, I at least wait a day or two before giving them out. Mostly because one time I gave one out right away only to see another response that was so much better a few hours later and I wish I could have taken it back..:( Anyways, I understand, I have no car so if my only choice was to ride a bus with horrible movies, then I'd grab my portable music player and ignore the show..:P lol

Oh, it's good I haven't encountered that experience yet. It's so embarrassing. I guess I won't feel comfortable staying on the bus. I hope some people will try to tell the driver to stop playing the movie especially if there are kids or teenagers around. It's no good to watch those in public. You're right. They shouldn't be allowed to play that kind of movies on the bus.

Hi angelkarah! How are your writing jobs? Yes, those kinds of films should be immediately banned on every public vehicle. This will help protect our safety and even the children. As I've observed, most guys don't care if they watch those with other women around. They just laugh, some just ignore their environment. Those drivers that I've encountered have tons of pirated DVD's lined up for them to play on board. Day or night, they find it as a fun way for them not to be bored while doing their jobs and dealing with heavy traffics. I prefer to listen for a relaxing or hip hop music rather than watch. Nice having you here.

Oh upon reading this one, I remember when I was still in high school, we had a field trip in Baguio city (philippines) so of course we had to ride on the shuttle bus. the bus had a TV and a dvd player. when the field trip had finished before night time. the driver decided to turn on the tv and the dvd, so we watched a foreign movie. I remembered the movie was something like Anaconda. there was this scene were two girls who had some steamy scenes inside the tent. we are all laughing when we saw that scene, but our teacher was screaming to us not to watched that kind of movies. we were 15 that time. Back to the discussion, for me it's not really appropriate to watched a movies with bed scenes inside a public bus because some passengers would be offended. there should have a regulatory about these public buses who shows some movies aboard.

Hi mrsuniega. It's a good thing that you have a protective teacher. We don't know what comes to a man's mind when they're watching those kinds of movies in a vehicle when there are ladies/women inside. It's frightening for me as the news always shows women being raped anywhere. I hope there will be a law for this concern. Better we listen to music or watch a television as there are very less chances of watching those disturbing scenes. Have a nice and sweet day!

Yes dear we feel the same! Actually not just on public places.. even at our very home! The films and series nowadays are very intimate..Foreign and even to our very own local shows.. To think? Even if it's early afternoon or prime time, shows have so much of these scenes.. To name Katorse @ 6pm before? Where you'd always see Erich and her pressed up *b**bs*? I dunno but seems like the limitation for these scenes have been loosen up.. It's awkward to be watching a scene like that, beside you on the sofa is either dad or brother -.- So most of the time, I jokingly say--- Ewwwwwwwww then move channel.. I just know exactly how you feel!:S

I consider this to be totally unacceptable, and I am sure that it would certainly be against the law in the majority of countries. If someone wishes to watch such material then I have no problem with that, but common decency demands that it is not displayed publicly, and certainly not in the presence of a woman. This is something that I have never encountered, and I hope that it remains to be so.

That is awful , I have taken public vehicle sometimes but never experience such thing . I also have ever heard of anyone in my country watching those kinda films on a public vehicle . Its illegal in my country for any public transportation to do that luckily . I dont see why a driver would make his passenger so uncomfortable !! dont they care are have no shame for themselves . I think if the passenger have said something the driver would have to turn it off , and if he dont just come off without paying . I have taken bus here , that is called "school bus" , whenever some adult come on it and because of the fast driving and loud music they would normally just come off .

It's a public transport and I agree that such kind of movies should not be allowed. Although the incident of being harassed in a public vehicle is pretty far- still it is not comfortable for a girl having a seatmate of opposite gender.
