And what a wonderful vacation it was! Edinburgh is such a beautiful town. Interesting buildings are everywhere and the people are really friendly and helpful. Castles, cathedrals and a lot of big and nice parks. We even went a little day-tour to highlands and really enjoyed that as well. We actually tried to relocate there, as we speak the language and it has a very nice university where both me and my fiancee are interested in studying at. However we had a bit of bad luck as all the flats/houses were already taken by the gfreat numbers of students studying there. We found out that we went in the wrong period as the semester had already started.. might try it again in june though. When a lot of students leave and more houses are available to let. :)

I have to agree, Edinburgh is indeed a beautiful city and even I who hate cities enjoyed my time there. Did you explore the tunnels? all the best, urban

Yes I did explore the tunnels. All the small alleys, the closes as they say them, that are below the royal mile. We did go an a small tour in mary king's close. Really spooky and dark, but wonderful. And the girl that was touring us around did a wonderful job. I will definetely visit edinburgh again in the future. There are still a lot of things we didn't have the time to see, such as edinburgh's zoo.

Believe it or not, we had no time to visit holyrood park and arthur's seat. :( We went there in order to find a house but we had bad luck, so then we only had 2 days left for tourism. One day we spent in edinburgh and the other on a highlands tour. We are planning on visiting scotland again in june, then we will have more time to check out all the cool places.

I am glad that you really enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh in Scotland. Yes, the university semesters have lots of students wishing for accommodation and they get it. In June it will be the summer holidays so you will have far more chance to rent somewhere to stay there. I went to Edinburgh years ago for an Easter weekend with my sister. We found it miserably cold. I loved seeing the castle and the old buildings.

It is rather cold indeed. Especially if you come from a country with a warm climate like I do. June is exactly the month we had in mind for going up there again, and look around for a flat. By then, the semester will be about to finish and a lot of houses will be open up, so can probably sign a contract with a relatively good and cheap one. :)

Edinburgh is very popular and I am glad you had a great vacation. There is so much to see and do. The last time I went was in 2006, I like to go in September when the heather is all out and the climate comfortable. Did you see the traditional Bagpipe players? Although not my favourite place in Scotland, I prefer Inverness further north. I do find Edinburgh quite expensive however, both to stay and to holiday there because it's so popular.

I am amazed to know about the beauty u have described about this place and it is always a pleasure to see natural things around u when u are on a trip. I know u had a bit of bad luck this time but i am sure that u will get a good place to stay there for pursuing your studies, may be u have to wait for the right time when u can get good flats or houses to stay until then u guys should wait. Indeed. We have to do a better timing. We only managed to find 2 flats that were in our budget, and they were both filthy with lots of humidity and mold. We really wanted to avoid living there. Even though the relocating part went bad, the vacation part was beautiful, plus we learned the basic roads of the city, the bus routes etc. So next time is going to be a lot easier. :)

Yes. We too have some friends in edinburgh, and whenever we were asking them how the city is, they were sending us pictures over the internet, and we were drooling all over them.:P The funny thing is, that when we finally visited edinburgh, we realised that in reality it is actually even more beautiful than it was in the pictures. All the small details in the building couldn't really be printed in the pictures!

I love Edinburgh too, as you say it has lots of interesting and lovely places to visit, and near wonderful countryside. In fact you can easily walk up 'Arthur's seat' from the city centre, did you do that?
