Is online shopping worth and helpful?

Now its very easy to visit online shopping sites and see the products with its costing.we get attracted and suddenly feel the urge to buy that without realizing the utility in our practical life.
How many of us visit these sites to find the product which we actually need and not easily available in the market?
Are we indulging in impulsive shopping?I agree that online shopping has made our life must easier.We do not have to waste time in the market to look for the thing which we need but along with the essential shopping we also order the products which is not required for the time being.We get package deals and discounts which are really lucrative and just make the haste decision to buy it.
Is impulsive shopping is the side effect of easy and hassle free online shopping sites?

I have not learned to shop online yet. Most of the things I want do not have shipping overseas and I live in South America. Still, I hope that when I do shop online, I will stick to my budget. Whenever I forget that, I get into serious trouble

I think online shopping can be very addictive and can cause impulsive shopping since it is so easy and alot cheaper. I do some online shopping at times myself. I have had friends that online shop for the holidays since they don't want to go out in the crowds at the stores. Yes online shopping as made our life easier,but because of the online shopping here in America some book stores have closed due to lack of money in the stores. So even tho online shopping can be good for us it isn't always good for the stores.

Since I don't drive and don't like to ask people for rides I've been shopping online for years. I don't have to deal with lines and carrying heavy items...they come to my door. I usually know exactly what I want so don't pick up extras when I'm looking at the sites I buy from so I'm not an impulsive shopper the way I am when I do get a chance to go to a store. Shopping online is the best thing that's happene to me. I love it.

I think its worth it.. especially if you can get a good deal on shipping. Im lucky to get shipping codes on the companies I use. With free shipping, I can order things from usa and have them right here at my door in mx in days.

I like any kind of shopping! But seriously, I think it depends.
There was this digital cam that I really like but couldnt find
it any store in my place, so I went online. Well I guess if it's
also better to find some infos about stuff that we are buying
and in online stores, they are providing this. And it's less
hassle going to market, falling inline and all that stuff. But
it still depends on the material or product you want to buy,
because some are more practical to buy in stores.

Yes. It could be the side effect of having online shopping so easy that we tend to forget the ones that are having more value than the other. For me, i think it is okay to shop online but we always need to make sure that what we are buying is worth it and is of use. Well, if you are earning more than enough and working hard for it, I don't see any reason for it to be a bad habit. i think it would always depend on the person holding the money :) You can also make a list of things that you needed to buy so that when you plan to shop online, it would be easier for you to pick up the things that are important and also, discipline yourself when it comes to buying stuffs. :)

Sometimes it is an impulsive purchase. However, I still think that the online shopping has many advantages. Besides the cheaper price and convenience, sometimes you really can't find the available products in your side and you have to buy it online. For example, lately I watched a movie called Ted and I just like the stuffed toy Ted from this movie. But it is not available here. But it is easier for me to find it online and then I buy it as a Christmas gift for my son

online shopping is worth. But you have to buy only things which are necessary. I did my first online shopping on yebhi. It was cash on delivery so i did not face any issue.

An old topic.for sure,every coin has two sides. shopping online has it's advantage and disadvantage. It's really helpful to shop and you donot need to walk around the shop all day to buy something.On the other hand,since you only can understand the goods by picture and description from seller,a lot of time you buy the less useful goods. Also,you could be cheatd when shipping online. I have a friend,she really in shopping online,actually she buy goods from there everyday,no matter the necessary goods or unnecessary( we call this as trash),she spends a ton of money on it and doesnot think this behaviour is wrong. It depends on where you live. Over here the shops deliver their magazines nearly daily on your doormat so you are able to see the prices of it. Prices of the articles I buy frequently I know by head, I know where to find the most cheapest things (which is for sure not always the most cheap shop). If it comes to other articles internet is a help to me, same with medication, shampoos etc. I am even buying them now abroad if I can save money with that. I never buy impulsive since I know what I can plus want to spend and I do not use a visa card.

You are right in your place but in a country like ours the scenario is not the same.Let me add one more thing that here also we do not always use visa cards or any other card and very comfortably we can pay cash on delivery (with a money back offer!!!)
It makes it convenient and accessible to all.

I like offline shopping better, because I like the process of shopping... touching the products, paying with cash etc. Also, I like that I can see the product in real life, decide on whether it's worth it (I can touch it, see the material, see it in different lighting). On the Internet, you can buy cheaper stuff, but you may never be 100% sure about the quality of the item (unless it's a brand name thing, and you know what it is like in real life), the true color. Also, on the Internet, I myself tend to get a bit more spendy, and have impulsive splurge purchases. But I use the Internet for buying brand name stuff cheaper on certain cites and buying cheap costume jewelry for abou a dollar on ebay - you can't beat that price.

Hi Doroffee! I liked the comment on the advantage of offline shopping.Offline shopping is still interesting.We can spend some time in window shopping and then can go for the real buy.
But due to our busy lifestyle , online shopping is picking up the pace.It is also offering good and cheap products which is very catchy !
Would like to know other merits and demerits of online shopping.

This is a very nice discussion that you have started. I do agree with you that online shopping trend has been growing very much these days. Apart from the advantages that you have mentioned there is also this benefit of getting a wide variety of choices. Now we don't have to wait for something to be available at the place where we stay. I also agree with the correlation of increase in impulse shopping. It is really hard to resist offers made by these e commerce sites. In fact last year I bought so many things that I did not require. But now, I have learned to control myself and buy only things which I need. Anyways have a nice day and keep mylotting...
