Dr appt. cancelled on Black Friday but open on Cmas Eve???

The VA hospital just called and said they have cancelled dad's eye DR appt for today at 1 p.m. It is closed, a day after Thanksgiving which I can understand but why couldn't they figure that out when they gave him the appt in the first place? Then to top matters off they gave him another appt and now it's for the 24th of December, which is Christmas Eve! How the devil does a eye dr appt not be open the day after T-day but is open on Cmas Eve? I am guessing they will probably call again and tell him they are cancelling it then too. Are any of your Dr appts ever crazy like this?

Yes, Ihope they cancel it too but they should call earlier and move it up earlier instead of later again. That place has been crazy. Black Friday is one heck of a time when people have to go out and buy things like they do. I have never went out and gone crazy like some of them do. I know a lady who edits footage for NBC news and she had on her FB status there today how crazy those people are, ha!

Black Friday here is nothing like the US, you don't really save much. I was looking at PetSmart and there wasn't really much. They should know ahead of time, I know my specialists all call ahead of time even a week or so if something come up or vacations.

I have heard they don't even have Black Friday in Canada. I think that the hospital should have called back earlier and instead of waiting to the same day to cancel. They even actually called Wednesday to confirm the appt today electronically ( a recorded call), so that is just lame too.

One should never waste one's time trying to figure out the VA...I gave up a long time ago. You just have to go with the flow and save your energy to battle the really tough stuff...

I did not check to see where you live, but here in Fl. it is almost impossible to get appts. in the winter months...All of the "snowbirds" make appts. for the next winter before they head back home. It is insane trying to get in to see a doctor if you are a "floridian" which I am. We cannot make appts. months in advance, only snowbirds can.

Probably had a bunch of people cancel for that afternoon,so they couldn't stay open until his appt. just for him was their thinking. But I agree, it will probably get canceled for the same reason for next time.
I was going to go to a Dr's appt. during a snowy day, but the Dr. couldn't get in and I had not gone substitute teaching so I could go.

Guess we know where he will be today.. Sometimes drs. and lawyers make no sence to me. Have a great weekend there.
