Anyone have a good recipe called Japanese Chicken?

I have had this chicken in several Chinese restaurants. It is a little spicy and a slightly sweet. I can't figure out what it is though. I thought it was like bourban chicken, but that isn't the right flavor. I don't like soy sauce but I think it might have it in there. I would appreciate any help.

Japanese or Korean? If it is the latter then you might try looking for Bonchon recipes.

Well if you find anything please let me know. It is a unique flavor that is hard to describe. I have tried to duplicate it but just can't come close.

It is definately called 'japanese chicken' who knows why the chinese restaurant calls it that though. I will look into what you suggest and I thank you for your response.

Thanks for your response. I will check these out and see if they are what I am looking for. I have looked high and low and what I find is just not the right taste or texture.

What a Chinese restaurant calls "Japanese chicken" (or even "Japanese-style chicken") is unlikely to be 'authentic' (though it may well be delicious!) I suspect that it would be something like an American restaurant serving "Canadian style" food

I think you are correct owlwings. I thought it very funny the first time I saw Japanese chicken at the chinese restaurant. Thanks for the response. I am going to keep trying more recipes. I want to cook it at home to avoid the msg that most restaurants use.

This the first time i heard of "Japanese Chicken" in a Chinese restaurant, the description you provided sound like it is somewhere close to "sweet and sour Chicken" or "Kong Paw Chicken" something like that. May be it is a new dish invented by the chef. It is impossible to give you the recipe use by individual chef, the restaurant usually keep the recipe as trade secret for their own business use. May be you can find out the real recipe from some Chinese Cuisine Cookbook from the book shelf in library. My friend!

Thanks for your response. It is not sweet and sour or kong paw as this restaurant also has these. I have actually seen japanese chicken in several restaurants. It is unbreaded and sort of a soy, possibly tomato sauce, sweet and spicy sort of sauce. I am going to try to duplicate it with trial and error at home since I am guessing the restaurant will not tell me their secret.
