Do we really believe in KARMA?...

or do we just use this to pacify our strong thirst for revenge?... Karma is like as old as time itself... but was it just invented by our ancestors... or is there an invisible force that dictates who will receive good karma and who will suffer the bad karma?... When someone did a not so good thing to you... do you do something about it or just hope and pray that someday soon... that person will be inflicted with Bad Karma?...

I do believe that "what goes around, comes around", which we all call Karma. As an example, think of a bully in school. He gets great enjoyment from harrassing others, untii, one day he meets a bigger bully than he is. Then he gets it all back. Recently, a news story told about a man and his son who were mocking a 10 year old girl with a disability, and it was caught on tape. That was a terrible thing for them to do, and I later found out charges were filed against them, and the father has to do jail time. Karma.

I suppose there are some who get away with it all their lives, but I tend to think that everyone pays at some time or another...in some way. For one thing, they loose the opportunity to be truely happy...isn't that Karma? You get what you give.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i totally believe in the concept of Karma and i think there is no point in discussing if it really exists or not. Time and again it has been proved and stated that if you do good Karma then it will affect your next birth. In fact whatever u are today is the result of the Karma we had done in our previous birth. If we had done something wrong in our previous birth then it would have affected our present birth. So we should always do good Karma so that we can get a human life in our next birth. What say?

Your concept of Karma is far too deep... we Filipinos believe in the Karma that would affect the person in his/her present life... like if someone did something bad to another person... then for sure Karma would work on both individuals... Good Karma for the victim... and bag karma for the culprit... Thanks for the response...

hi aseretdd I heard of this many times but have never seen it. If that happens then the person who did bad will definitely get the punishment or the bad karma , and he wont repeat the same again and he may also turn as good person but so sad this is not happening. So only there is no end to the bad people , they are going on doing the bad as there is no fear.

I think that is the other way around... it could have been invented by the poor to give them hope that someday justice will be served or that if they do good things... a better future awaits them because of good karma... Thanks for the response...

every action has something in return. If you do something good, expect that there will be a reward for that. but ofcourse its gonna happen in a discreet manner. You will know when its gonna happen. on theother hand, if you do bad against anyone, you will have something to happen that is not desirable in your life. It is worth discussing here that doing bad would actually be an automatic karma to you. yeah. for me when I did something bad against someone, I couldn't sleep. The restlessness is the karma and the happening of bad things because of that action can be another thing.

Hi, I totally believe in Karma. And I believe it can happen in this lifetime of ours. I've witnessed good and bad things that happened to people that I believe a result of Karma. I believe it is a life lesson, to let us know that whatever good or bad things that we do to others, can also happen to us wither in this life time or the next life. Honestly, due to my anger sometimes, I can't help myself to wish for someone to have a bad karma. But I take it back afterwards, I just leave it all to God, He knows better, what to do with those people.

i do believe in it, there is of course that possibility that the world / nature will be able to give back what you have done - good or bad it comes back to you one way or another.

I believe in Karma. I think God is fair and if you do bad things to other people, this will surely come back to you. If someone treats me bad, I don't go for revenge. I don't say that God will punish these people. But instead, I will pray that they will get an enlightenment. But this is a case to case scenario, there are times that you can't help but to think bad things about other specially when it is too much. I want to dissolve that feeling as it is very difficult to fill your heart with grudge and revenge.

I agree... even if we do not want to... there are times when we wish the person who did something bad to us will be run over by a bus, a train, or even a bicycle... we are not perfect although we want to... Thanks for the response...

I have never really thought about but I think I believe in karma. If someone does something to me and I feel I have been wrong I don't go out of my way to "get them back" for one that is way too much time and effort being spent on someone not worth it. Secondly if I try to get them back then then it will just be an endless cycle. So if if someone does wrong sooner or later God will make sure that they pay in which ever way he sees fit.

Okay... another new perspective learned... it will just be an endless cycle if we extract revenge on the person who did something bad to us... because that means bad karma will happen to us because of that bad deed... Thanks for the response...

Yes, i do believe on that. If somebody do bad for me, I do not take a revenge instead I just pray for them and just leave all to God. I do believe in good and bad karma. I am just doing good deeds and not expecting something in return. I just doing it because it is the right thing to do.

I believe that if you do good, it will return good to you as well and if you do bad if will return back to you as well. I believe that God rewards those who are good and punishes those who commit wrongs. I think that is not exactly Karma.

From what I understand, there is no physical evidence for Karma. I think we would all like to believe bad people get what's coming to them, but many bad people do not pay any penalty for treating others badly. We as humanity must take responsibility to make the world a better place, and not rely on the unseen to do this for us.

It is so difficult to believe in Karma when there are so many bad, corrupt, evil people still roaming the earth... but i still believe something or someone is out to get them sooner or later... i just hope it is a lot sooner... Thanks for the response...

Karma is a real force in the world, but I've always believed that you shouldn't wish it on people. I've witnessed it in my own life; people have stolen from me and treated me wrong, and shortly afterwards nothing will go right for them or some unexpected bad thing happens. I don't wish it to happen, and I'm not happy when it does. But it shows me that time and again the world will right itself in someway, so I do my best not to send any bad karma out myself lest I receive it back!

That would depend a lot on the circumstances. The idea of Karma is not completely unknown in my culture, but a more prevalent saying here is "what comes around goes around" or "we reap what we sow." These sayings indicate that in generally we do not have to act in revenge as nature will take care of it. On the other hand, we do tend to take reasonable measures to prevent harm from coming to us, so if someone has behaved badly in the past, we might well do something to prevent that from happening again. We call that being proactive.

Yes... being proactive is one way of dealing with good or bad karma... i think this is what i need to do... lately i do not have the drive to be one... but surely i am getting there... and i hope it will be really really soon... Thanks for the response...

I'm not a believer in Karma so to speak but I do believe in reaping what we sow. You can't treat people bad and then never get it back, the same way, you can treat people good and still have bad things happen to you. Its all a matter of perspective, if you treat people with kindness then your character shines through more than anything. Those who do bad will get theirs in the end, that's not Karma, that's just life.

Still sounds like Karma to me... but then... that is really life... we get what we deserve so to speak... but there are times when we want to get it immediately and we run out of patience... and still we say to ourselves... that is life... Thanks for the response...

Well, a lot of bad things happen to some people who did not so good things to me... but i do not know if that is karma or just bad luck... but i like to think it is the former... just to console myself... since they got away from the bad thing they did... Thanks for the response.

I don't believe in Karma per se. Just that What goes around comes around. I mean what you do have always some impact on others, may it be bad or good. If its the former then some may feel the need to retaliate in the same way so others say its your bad karma because you did bad things to others. Same as with doing good, the need to pacify the feeling of gratitude. Its a cycle of things you did and the things that other people did. So good karma to us! hehe
