guys, I am actually planning to cut our cable TV because I am planning to apply for unlimited internet connection. I think having cable tv nowadays is no longer in demand because we can already watch our favorite shows and movies online for free. How about you guys, am I doing the right move?

Hello, here in India cable TV is not costly. If all members of your family know to use internet than you may be cut your cable TV. But if you wants to work of internet instead of watching program and any yours family members wants to watch program than what you will do?

Lol. It will never be a problem since all of the programs that my family watches are available for free via aerial antenna. So cable tv is not practical anymore.

It will really boils down on what you really want. You mentioned the pros on this discussion. I'm living in Dubai and since we don't have television, I get to use the Internet a lot for my favorite shows and movies online. However, I still get to miss the others shows on television that are immediately available online. Anyway, should you change your mind in the future, you can have it connected again. Good luck!

This really depends on whether there are television programmes that you still watch on cable that are not available online. It would be a shame to cancel the service and then discover that you actually still have a use for it. Naturally you are the only person who will truly know whether it is a good decision or not, and nobody wants to continue paying for a service that they cease to use. I would advise acquiring unlimited internet first and not using cable for a month. If you find that you have not missed cable then it would be a prudent time to cancel it, but at least you would have the easy option of changing your mind during that period.

I think it is no longer a wise decision and practical to be paying to a cable tv system whereinfact only local channels are being watch by my family and not the likes of HBO and Discovery channel.

We never had cable TV, because we don't really get to watch tv often, when we were both working. But, I guess now, my growing kids would need to see good tv programs that are kid-friendly from the cable channels. There's just too much rubbish and soap operas on local channels.

hi aabuda :) I'm not sure if you can access everything on the internet that's on the cable but if what you usually watch there is also accessible on the net then I think it's a wise decision to have it cut. You can save money that way too:)

Yes. And besides only local tv channels are being watch by my family and not those channels that are exclusively available on cable.

I have not tried the internet connection for watching movies. I do have an unlimited internet connection at home but have used it only for the mails and browsing.
