Saw a neat post on someone's blog about all the different things they've done before their current job/career. I was actually quite amazed that this person could remember what they got paid for their jobs - there were quite a few. I remember what I've done but not what i got paid. I think theres even a few things that i've tried that i cant remember In no particular order I've been: A Babysitter A Farm hand A Figure skating Assistant instructor A Figure skating instructor A Waitress Recess Supervisor Farm Safety Presenter Provincial Park Maintenance Crew member Stock Clerk Home care provider - lasted two weeks and went to babysit for someone for the summer instead Computer Technician/ Network Administrator Major Case Management Intern Research Assistant Front Desk Clerk Mystery shopper - periodic. Office administrator Looking at what I've done I'm not afraid to try new things or learn something new. I did try working at Subway as a "Sandwich artist" but due to allergies to shellfish i didnt even work more than 3 shifts. I dont know if i should count things like mylot or things online i've considered "Fun money" not a job. What sorts of jobs have you tried? What would you count as a job?

I've tried a few different jobs. Since it's such a small list I can put them in order. LOL Caregiver Kennel Attendant Mail Carrier Distribution Associate (AKA mail clerk) I've also been a stay at home mom for several years. That in itself is a job. Too bad it doesn't pay like one. By the way, there are plenty of jobs that I consider jobs. Even an odd job like babysitting and mowing lawns is a job. Unfortunately not everyone sees it as such. Happy mylotting!

I consider odd jobs like babysitting and lawn mowing jobs too. Even things like mystery shopping or taking part in a focus group are a "job" to me.

What do you want to do? This person who has this long list of jobs must be an old person or a person that counted every little job he/she did as a teenager, etc. I would not compare yourself with this person. I was a stay-at-home mom, I count that as a job, even though I didn't get paid monetarily for that job. Now, I want to be able to earn an online income, so I do count MyLot as my job, as I work at it. I have learned that I can write and perhaps, it will lead to a better paying online work. So, again, what do you want to do to earn money or for a career. One of my goals in life is to be able to help others earn online, especially those people who can't work outside their homes, such as the disabled or mothers with babies. If I can help others earn a little extra with MyLots, I think that is a worth goal.

The jobs i listed are mine. Counting what you did as a teenager is still work experience...esp when it lasts more than a month. I am doing what i want to do...and anything i tried has been something i wanted to do or try at the time or i never would have done it.

My official definition of a job is anything that I do that promises e money as a return. Anything that I do otherwise is considered a chore or leisure. I have been a writer, which also {includes editor and rewriter} for the longest even though I am starting to doubt whether I should continue, a tutor, a teacher, and a housekeeper, In the future,i want to be a business owner but that will happen only if cash starts coming in. Regarding mylot,I consider it a job but often than not, a distraction from the mundane existence I call life. It's fun, legit although sometimes i wish I could earn more from this site.

I wouldnt say thats a lack of effort. By the way those jobs are over the course of about 17 years not a couple years. And my position as an office administrator now...is not just "basic"

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i am glad to know that u have tried so many professions so far in your life and i am quite amazed to hear this because i have never realized that a person can play so many roles at different times. I think more importantly, whichever job u are into, we should always enjoy it and take it as a challenge and give it all our best efforts just as u have done. i think here on mylot u can also take it as a profession just as many are doing it. What say?
