A rant about facebook.

A long time ago I got into FB. It seems we all did. But suddenly I discovered that it wasn`t so easy to have a nice conversation there as we do here. Most people there will not care about explining something better or describing well an experience. I got tired of this sort of talk where a lot of people just said "lol". One would think that they are forced to say something even if they have not thought about the subject. I decided to delete everyone there who was not a real personal friend or a close member of my family. RIP facebook! But I hsave mylotand I`m very happy here.

I hardly ever visit facebook. I have an account but I am not crazy about it either. I think the biggest thing that turns me off from it is the way people at work stalk other people and try to find something to talk about. I keep my time there limited and non personal for the most part.

I find facebook fascinating at first particularly when i came to know the whereabouts of friends whom i had been close years before. But later on this interest faded and I found that i would gain/learn more by spending my time here in mylot than doing FB.

I was elated when I found a friend I had not seen for years. But then, after we became friends, we did not have much to say to each other.

Fortunatly most of the people I love are in the same city I live. I phone them or visit.

yes that was what happened at first, the excitement of being in touch again after several years but later on this too had somewhat tone down as every time i open my account i am seeing the same pattern of activities. I visit my account maybe once a week more on to check other activities that my children and close relatives had been to that i may not be aware of.

Lol lol lol ... I am one of them Well its good to have the option , the internet is wide and full of social networks to suite everyone needs . I like Facebook not just because it make it easy to keep up with all my interest, but because I have a lot of real friends there and family members .

People are the ones making the social site look bad , it was design to bring people together but some people behave on the net just as they do in real life so if they are always looking for attention, you will see them always making status updates also .

The proble is that we all know that not all people are nice. When my kids were little, they wanted to go to school by themselves. I did not let them. I told them that I trusted them, but I did not trust other people.

I have a friend you is addict to FB, but I have noticed that she has had some trouble with her real life friends because of that too. It seems that she loves to post all sorts of things and not everything is for everyone.

I've never really gotten into the FB craze. The accounts that I created in FB had now been abandoned. I don't like to go there. It's such a fake place with fake friends. I don't have friends who are on FB.

While I have friends that are on FB, they all know that if they want to reach me they can either phone me of send me an email. I check my mail every day.

I only have those who I know, on FB. Initially I was excited to discover long lost friends and family and uploaded my entire life there but what I have noticed is others only send you forwards but do not share their life. I have stopped updating my status there but do look up now and then.

A couple of friends of mine did that and it was very dangerous. The things they uploaded were missused by people and it had escaped their posibilities of delelting everything in time.

I only have close friends and family on my facebook private account. It's a good way to communicate with a loved one from another country. I don't think it's advisable to get into facebook for discussion reasons. Because most people are more interested in just looking for pictures than discussing something. But it's good for business. Because I opened an account in Facebook two years ago for my clothing and accessory business and you can really have sales in there.

I don`t even understand how you can sell through FB, but I`m glad that it has helped you.

Yeah. I was surprised, too. I was just trying it out to see and was surprised that the business is doing great. But I was scammed once for accepting a check payment. But all in all, it's great. Maybe I got lucky on Facebook.

I just got into it again. It started out just doing a few casino type games along with chatting with other site admins discussing site issues. Then I started playing some of the other games that those people sent me invites to. Now I am addicted. I don't make any money doing that, but I do have fun with it. I guess that I will figure it out one of these days. I stopped playing games a couple of years ago after being totally addicted to it, but I was working full time at the time as well so I didn't really have time to do it. Have a great weekend!

I suppose that can help to show pictures to our people abroad. But my sister, who has her two children abroad, keeps in touch with them through Skype.

I can see why you are ranting about facebook and I can think of a lot of situations where I would be doing the same thing. However, I don't spend a lot of time trying to talk to people on facebook. Instead, I will check in once every day or two to see what is going on with my people and I might update my status and that is about it. For me, I find that I'm not one of those people that can be endlessly addicted to facebook like many people are.

What would you call updating your status? From what my friends tell me, it seems that they post everything about them and that is hardly personal

Hello, Mama Marguicha! Although Facebook seems to be a very simple platform were everyone can easily adopt themselves into, you will see how different the topics are talked about. I think that the exchange of conversations are shallow and somewhat not that useful or meaningful as compared to Mylot. I still have my Facebook but I rarely communicate with friends unless there are really important things that we need to talk about, but they are ofcourse in private. But somehow, I do find myself to be joking too, with few friends and my sister and cousin with regards to newly uploaded photos.

I feel it`s easier to talk to my friends by the phone. I only use FB to see if my grandchildren are home (near a laptop) Then I call them. As for pictures, I prefer to have them sent to me by mail. I keep the important ones, such as the last pictures of the kids.

Hi friend, we don't get more fun and enjoyment in fb, we can share our photos, videos and other things there, but we don't have a lively interaction in fb like mylot. The concept of mylot is far different from fb and we have more fun and enjoyment with our friends while interacting in mylot

I agree with you, friend. Here we can have real conversations. And while not all of them are to our liking, we can always find enough do have fun and learn some.

for me facebook is a way for others to just boast for something.. everything what`s new in them they will post there. their new cellphone, laptop, car, with matching pictures is it necessary to tell all the people in the world of facebook that hey i got a new ipad.. i don`t know if i`m just being sensitive but i can`t stand reading something like that.. not unlike here we can learn here from our fellow mylotters..

Ohh .. I don't have strangers in my personal facebook account, even my friend's boyfriend, that I have not met yet. Facebook is very personal thing for me, where I put my digitized photos and whereabouts. So i don't have any one there except my closest friends and relatives. But I do have another account and this account is for gaming only so no personal pictures are posted there except for game requests. and it is used also by my sisters to their different game requests.

of course. I can not brag 50 friends who are not actually my friends. It was just too awful and lying.

I seldom add friends in my fb, and if I do, because I know them. I also got my search engine turned off. I dont like people searching me, but there was one time a very suspicious name tried to add me. It has the same name with my husband but last name was a Filipino word for stupid but it was inverted, and it added my mom and my sister. It doesnt have any pics, so I suspected it could have been my husbands ex or some friends who dont want to be known. It was really weird.

I think that FB is made so it is easy for some people to get inot the lives of other people. I wish there was a law against that.

That pisses me. I had to delete one of my grandsons for that. He did not understand so I told him that if he wanted to talk to me, there was the phone or he could come over.

One of the problems of FB, Jo, is that he young people who have access to FB make it a public place and that includes some of their contacts. I am given the real name of people I don`t know each day telling me that they have so many friends in common with me. That itself is a brech of my privacity.

At FB mainly if conversations are between friends then it is like email , but if between those who dont know each other personally then there seems to b a general reluctance, here at mylot , it is mainly discussions about topics and not personal but general comments so it doesnt feel ackward,. topic is the main focus.

let FB be a social network to share links, pictures, create facebook page and talk with our friends and families. I like mylot because here I can share my experience with the right people, learn more from users and finally get corrected in case what I'm doing or thinking is a mistake ;)

I LOVE MyLot so much! There is no where better than being here. I am not a fan of facebook at all. I HATE it there, I don't waste much of my time with that stupid site honestly. I like having discussions here and I like having friends here.
