Hi guys! India, a proud cricket nation and truly wonderful part of the world, I'm privileged to visit regularly. But i'd like your opinions on a huge problem i have seen, not in just this test series, but in general. I saw it in England, and i'm seeing it in this series. In the field, and running between the wickets India are abysmal! I would estimate, over an innings there is about a 50-70 run difference between England and India. That's like an extra batsman in the side! I would guess, indian children have a diet of street cricket, often not on grass which helps batting and bowling but never fielding. I can imagine that doesn't help the onveyor belt of the next generation of international cricketers being good fielders. What do you think could be done to improve india in this department?

I think the standard of fielding has gone up over the years. But you are right, Indian players do not attempt to keep fit for as long as possible. Gambhir and Sehwag at the top run horribly. Then at the end, when Ashwin comes to bat, there is always a run out waiting to happen. Apart from these three, the others are pretty decent with Dhoni leading from the front on this aspect!! Cheers! Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i know it has been a disappointing series so far for all the Indian cricket fans and all were hoping that India would be taking the revenge for the painful loss that they had in England but what is happening is turning out to be completely opposite. The fielding department is especially the one they have to improve other than the batting department that is collapsing very easily in front of the English bowlers. Hope they win the last test match at least. What say?
