EPL. Is the Title Race Over?

December 10, 2012 5:43am CST
Following Man United's last gasp 3-2 victory over closest rivals City, they are now six points clear. United's next game is an 'easy' home game while City face a tricky trip to Newcastle. It's possible the gap could grow even wider. Is it all over now?

No way the EPL is over this early in the season. Teams could be down by 16 points at Christmas and end up winning the league, and City are only down by 6 points while Chelsea are down by about 10 points. We won't know if it's over until it's over. By the way, Newcastle isn't a tricky trip, they have been pretty poor this season.

You are right in saying Newcastle are poorer than last season. However, they have players capable of anything when the mood takes them. I think it can be an intimidating place to go -especially for such a big game. I think they will raise their game. I think City are still favourites to win this game but they are far from convincing too at the moment...especially away from home.Icertainly think Man United have by far the easiest game against a shockingly poor Sunderland side.

i don`t think so.. Manchester city still give fighting.. but maybe Manchester United can end the season earlier than last season..but not in this week...The league is still long and MU should be focus..

It is very early, but I think if United can sort out their defence they will be hard to overtake. Chelsea are not without a shout too, despite all their recent problems.

Given the things that have gone on this season and the last one, I will say no it is not over. I think currently none of the teams are really consistent. Each team seems to have a good run, followed by a bad run. Right now Man United are winning matches, though they are having dig very deep to get the result. With their defense being a bit dodgy, I think they will drop points before the end of the season. The same is true about Man City. So the season is far from over at this moment. Cheers! Ram

The title race is over if Manchester United keeps winning all their remaining matches. But it is impossible to win all. Manchester United will drop points sooner or later. Similarly, other chasing teams will do the same. Having a six point lead is a huge advantage. I feel that Manchester United will keep that distance for the major part of the season with a minimum of three points.

It's hard to say whether it's over or not, I mean we are just halfway. Like last season in the Eredivisie (Dutch League) there was a gap between Ajax and I thought FC Twente of more then 10 points, but in the end Ajax did came up first and went to the CL.
