Is this the end of the road for Manny Pacquiao?

After that devastating loss to Juan Manuel Marquez, will Manny Pacquiao be able to rise up again? Personally, Marquez's win over Pacquiao last weekend negated all the previous fights that Manny won mainly because of the more exclamatory way by which Marquez won. Pacquiao was knocked out where his previous fights with Marquez went the distance. I'm sure Pacquiao has a re-match clause with his fight with Marquez but will he take that option to try wrest back the crown he lost?

What happen is really so devastating for everyone who admires Manny Pacquiao. I am a proud Filipino too and as a Filipino I felt sad for what happened to him. But boxing is just an sport that someone will win and the opponent will lose. Many over from the previous fights that Manny show the world how great boxer he is, he gained many fans and this people still idolizing him. For them, Manny will soon give them another fight to watch for. Whatever will happen in the future will happen and everything that is happening has a reason. And every story has an end... We are the author of our own story and so Manny is the one who will rewrite his boxing story.

Let's not cry over spilt milk. Yes, Pacquiao has all the reasons to bounce back. He should reconsider all the attributes that have helped him reap victories the past decade, as well as his recent acquisitions, Bible study, a rumored conversion to another religion, his no longer wearing the rosary and not making the sign of the cross before a fight. He should take stock of all these things. Did they help in his boxing career? Manny's main line is boxing. He builds boxing this awe-inspiring career of his from scratch we all knew this since his struggling youth. His being a congressman is nothing but a branch which may be cut after 3 years. Thus he knew very well where he belongs. Manny is but 33 compared to Marquez 39. It's but natural for a creature to cry revenge. When interviewed if Pac-Mar 5 is hatched, Manny with Arum listening, quickly replied: "Why not?"

I don't think it's the end for Manny. I am looking at a rejuvenated and fierce Manny again demolishing opponents trough knockout wins and be on top of pound for pound again. He learned his lesson and I believe he will come back strong from it. Goodluck Marquez. :)

I've always believed that an athlete should know when to stop and do so at the top of his game. As a fan, I'd like for Manny to fight and climb back to the top and then retire. However, this is only if Manny still has boxing in his heart. Clawing his way back in the rankings would require his full attention. If he cannot do this, I'd say it's high time for him to retire.

So the PAC man is finally floored. I did not follow this match as there have been so many controversial bouts between these two that I got fed up. If he has been floored, then it might be difficult for the PAC man to make a come back and wrest the title in my opinion. I think he is not getting any younger and probably that has slowed him a bit and he is no longer the best pound for pound fighter he used to be in his hey days!! Cheers! Ram

This is a test of character for Manny. For him to climb up the rankings after this defeat will really define his boxing greatness.

Not really end of the road. He said that he wants to fight more. Actually, he wants another rematch from Marquez. The fight contract is until 2014. So, its a possible 4 fight for Manny.

I agree with what you said , that last game negated all the previous fights that Manny won. It was a terrible lost , bit shameful for Manny was already in the top level but due to that knock out , all seemed melted. It is okay to loss the fight just that not in that way. Anyways it happened already but Manny is still Phils hero and the best . What happened was very isolated case and am sure it won't happen again. Lesson learnt for Manny . In fairness the game was so good even Manny played better than Marquez. I guess 1 more rematch needed and all will be at peace.

I don't think it's the end for him. But a rematch with Marquez is I think just the pride or money matters to prove something. Personally, he doesn't have to do a rematch. Yes, he kissed the canvass, but we can't deny that he's already legendary and brought pride to his country so many times. People forget he is human and humans are having ups and downs in their lives. This is one of his saddest memory but his victories will always be remembered.

well said greenthumb018! at this point, manny will know who are truly his friends and supporters and who are just free loaders! with wise investments and with a total control of his lifestyle, he and his family should be well placed right now and he can retire. if i were manny, i would take the rematch for an opportunity to knock marquez down in similar fashion.

It should not be a matter of the end of the road for Manny Pacquiao but a manner of what is ahead for him. I believe that he has done a great deal of wins for the Philippines and if he chooses to stop or not he is still a winner. he may not have won the fight against Marquez but he has won the hearts of so many Filipinos as well as a lot of people all over the world.
