How to fight Hacker?

I recently received a notification or email from gmail services that someone from USA attempt to break my gmail account. They advise to change my password. What else I can do to protect my gmail account or yahoo account? How can I achieve a very strong password?

Avoid the "Remember my password" thing in any logins or computer. I think this is the most basic thing in protecting your password. Aside from having a complex password.

I use a program called Roboform. It's not just about changing the password, but also hiding your keystrokes. This program puts it in, automatically but also helps you to generate new and random passwords. It also remembers them all for you and you can set it up on all of your devices and retrieve from anywhere.

How long you've been using roboform. Is that safe to use?
