Miss plus America

This pageant is good for making overweight girls find some confidence in themselves. They find embarrassing situation in front of others, but this is against social method because weight should not be looked in the human circumstance.

I also saw that show.. they may be fat. But the are so pretty inside. And they look so nice in those nice cloths.

Why are obese people or overweight people called "fat"? It sounds like a bad word and sounds awful. Call them what they are but don't put them down with a nasty label. You keep saying "fat ladies" and "fat women" and it sounds disrespectful to me. I think "overweight ladies" and "overweight women" sounds kinder to me. Just the opinion of an overweight person.

Speaking as a plus sized lady, I have to say that you only lose your confidence if you let people bring you down. For me, I've always had a good amount of confidence and I do have more now than I used to simply because of the fact that I've gotten a little bit thicker skin. However, I can tell you that I always let things roll off of my back. The only time that I did start to lose confidence was when I was at my biggest and it was very hard for me to find clothes. I know that I'm a beautiful person, both on the inside and out so I don't need to let people that are prejudice bring me down.

Physical appearance is not the totality of one's personality but more of how he view life and respect people. I have several healthy (as they prefer to be described) friends who are oblivious of how they look and seem to be happy and enjoying life.

For my part of view, being fat can also be beautiful. People cannot laugh at those who are fat. Fat or slim, we are still people and we share the same world. It affects nothing. My mom is fat, but I think she is beatiful. I love her no matter what she may be. have a nice day.

I think that this should be more recognized all around because it is very hard and hurts the self esteem of over weight women. And there are actually people that will say that because they are heavy they are lazy and thats why they are fat. Which is not always the truth. Many people become over weight because of meds that they have to take and then the esteem drops and then so does the energy to work out and try to lose the weight. Its really good to see a positive thing happening to these beautiful people!

When I was at primary school my best friend was very over weight but she was my best friend! over the years I met quite a few over weight people and I have to say they were better than my skinny friends! actually I don't like my skinny friends they all have a problem and I don't want any thing to do with them.

Beauty should not be equated to a person having a size zero. And I think that any person who exudes beauty from within is beautiful. I find it really crazy for some women who would be starving themselves just so they can lose weight and the clothes sizes would be smaller. I think that they are the unhappiest person in the world, because they base their happiness on other people's physical perception of them.

Well, I'm sorry when people are teasing! Whether fat or other. Thank goodness there someone who thinks like me, then in my opinion is a good thing That Are Made of competitions for overweight people. There must absolutely no discrimination against Those who have even a little overwright. In my view, we humans are all equal, I believe Such discrimination is called "racism," and I oppose resistance to Such discrimination. In fact, I hate racism!

I agree. I used to watch this program. I am not watching it these days due to lack of time. I do agree this encourages the people who are over weight. But there is no need to treat them so badly by others .The people should realize how much it hurt the people of the kind.

Hello roshigo58, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I wish I could have seen that program. I used to be a fat lady and have my fair share of those really mean remarks from other people. It does not help that I live in a country where thin is the normal frame for ladies like me. It was a hard time, I must say. But I braved it and decided to do something about it and lost the extra pounds. Now I am in my normal weight for my height and no one is throwing mean remarks at me anymore. But this does not mean that I no longer feel pain for those people who are still struggling with their weight. You see, in my years of being heavy, I learned that not all fat people (pardon the word I use) are the way they are because they ate too much or undisciplined. Some of them has a medical condition that made them fat. And that s a sad predicament, especially if there are a lot of bullies who doesn't have an idea what a struggle these people are facing. I have to commend the organizers of Miss Plus America. Having competitions like that could surely give a boost of confidence to those who are plus size. It is also a good way to established the fact that these plus size people are human two and they deserve to be treated as such.

Yes I agree with you point,this TV show can encouraging and motivating to those fat women,but there is one thing,as we all know,fat will always make you inconvenience in your daily life and actually there is one thing more important,and that is fat is really bad for people's health,so in order to have a regular life,why not try to lose some weight?

Beauty is not only based on how sexy you are but also on the inside and personality. There are lots of beautiful fat women and it will not make them less of a woman just because they are fat. Those people laughing at them should be ashamed and look at themselves first. Nobody is perfect and a person will always have a flaw no matter how beautiful the person is.
