Did music really have to change?

Seriously I used to love the newest songs that came out. They were awesome, and they sounded great. Now when I turn on the radio I hear a bunch of terrible sounds with cursing on it. I can't believe what in the world they are letting on the air now. It seems crazy because when I was growing up you weren't even allowed to say a bad word, now half of them are playing. I still remember the first time that I heard a bad word on the radio. I was driving with my brother down the road and a Kid Rock song came on "Whiskey Lullaby" and the nasty word came out. I was so surprised I looked at my brother and said "Can they really say that?" I was completely astounded when my brother looked at me like it was normal. He told me that there is worse out there than this. So am I completely conservative in my views? I used to be able to turn on the radio and would have no concerns about my children singing along. Now I have to turn down the music or I have to put in a compact disc. How are you all with your children or do you not mind the music? I might be really conservative and if I am just let me know. Thank you in advance for your viewpoints.

I think we have to admit that music trend tends to change from time to time. For instance, when I turn on the radio nowadays, all I can get is those techno songs, which sometimes I found them really annoying. When you look at those music videos, you will find that those are really 90% girls ini bikini and partying. Thus, I rather look for and select the music I like in the internet indeed. I do agree that children shouldn't be exposed to some creepy songs which can mislead their mind.

yes, i have to agree some new songs aren't exactly my taste. i listen to the oldies stations with the music of 60s, 70s, 80s on my radio.

I have to agree. I am somewhat disappointed with the music that has been coming out lately. The music that I hear lately doesn't begin to compare to what I am used to hearing.

I have to agree. I still listen to music from when I was growing up. My daughter is tired of hearing me complain about her music. The music from my time seems so "normal" and "good". The problem though, this is exactly the same conversation I had with my mom and she was putting down the music of my time. Has music really been getting worse for the last 50 years? Or, as I suspect, have we learned to associate the music we grew up with, with "normal" and "good"? And anything different than that is therefore bad? Specifically, what is the criteria for good and bad music? If the music uses bad language, does that automatically make it a bad song? What if musically, it would be considered a work of art? If I put bad words to a piece of Classical music by an accomplished composer - say Mozart or Beethoven, would the music be "bad"? Or would it simply be distateful? If it's simply distateful, then we would have to consider the taste of the listener. And tastes change.
