Tuvok - The newest addition to our family

It has been almost four years since my last cat died. I had determined at that time that I was not ready to have another furry friend in my life. I really didn't think I was in any position to take on the responsibility. I have been missing the comfort that having a pet can give though, although I didn't realize it. Many things are depressing me right now so what is one more, right? Anyway, a couple of days ago when I came home my grand kids told me about this lady who had several kittens she was trying to find homes for. Right now is not a really good time to take on more responsibility but when they told me that one of the kittens was black I told them I would consider it. So, the kids went and got the kitten and brought it home to meet me. Of course by then I couldn't deny the little thing. He has been a great comfort to me already. He always comes to my room to spend the night. In fact he spends a lot of time in my lap because I think he misses his brothers and sisters. Here is a picture of little Tuvok. Of course I had to name him after a star trek character.

That's great that you have welcomed a new family member. He is so gorgeous! And it can be hard when you lose a furry friend but I'm glad you decided to find a new one and I believe it was meant to be by the sounds of it. Although he doesn't seem to have that serious vulcan look yet. He needs to practice

I started seriously keeping cats when I started having children of my own. The cats were such a comfort to me through all the stress of childbearing. These last four years is the longest that I have been without a furry friend. Tuvok is working on the vulcan look. He almost has the hand salute down pat.

They never did quite master the ability to change diapers but they made excellent baby sitters as the could amuse the baby for hours on end.

I have not been without a cat in almost fifty-five years. I keep saying though that as these last three die I will not replace them. My old guy really looks rough, but ever since I started giving him homemade food he has been a lot healthier. He sleeps a lot now and falls when he jumps. He and my other male make a big fuss over me when I am home and they keep each other company. The younger male drools a lot and he always looks matted, as his hair is long. He is so sweet. Both of these guys love the lap and the young one stands on his hind legs to put a paw on each side of the neck. My female is still very much into being outside year around and hunting, etc. She is not a lap cat, but she does want more petting now as she is older. She and the young male like to get inside cars and will ride.

It's a rare cat that will put up with riding in a car. I have had a few. It is so sad that our furry friends cannot live as long as we do. It is hard to see them leave us. But I think it is even harder to see them in pain.

Long ago and far away, Mona loved to ride in the car, until we took her to the vet to have her spayed. After that, she always made a hell of a racket.

Aw, what a sweet baby. Are you sure he's old enough to leave his mama? Do you know Pyewacket? She just got a black kitten, too. Named him Ouija.

Oh, yes, I know pyewacket. Does she have a new profile here or is she staying away from mylot? I don't see any discussions or comments from her but she sends me ecards every now and then.

No, she doesn't have a new profile here, and she's not posting, though I encouraged her to post a pic of Ouija here so we all could see him. (She sent me a pic in her last email, but mostly it's just the ecards.)

Oh my Tuvok is so cute. I'm glad that you decided to take him. Yeah I guess he miss his sister and brother. When I adopt a kitten years ago, he would seem to meow-ing and looking for something at the beginning (I guess it's his brother and sister, I got him from a friend who have a cat give a birth of 3 kittens), but once he already comforted in our house, he would stay content and playing either with me or by himself.

It don't take them long to adapt to a new environment, especially if they get a lot of attention in their new home. Tuvok gets a lot of attention here, not just from me but from my grand kids, too.

Good that you have a pet again. I guess pets are really important in our life. They give us a lot of comfort. I always wanted to keep a cat in my house but my mother never agreed even today she doesn't allows me to keep one. I guess i have to live all life without a cat. Cats are really beautiful and cute. Please pray that my mother allows me to keep a cat at the house. If she does allow i will rush to the shop and buy the best cat available.

It's such a shame that your mother won't let you have a cat. Maybe some day you will have a home of your own. Then you can have any animal you please.

You didn't had the idea of having another cat to bring it into your life. sometimes we make wrong decisions without knowing... am happy to know you have an other one and everything is going OK...

Did you mean to say you thought my getting this cat was a wrong decision, or did something get mixed up in the translation? Anyway, I don't think it was a bad decision.

I'm sure we will. He is quite young but is eating regular food. As soon as he is a little older I will take him to the vet and get his shots and stuff done.

Well good thing you have little Tuvok now which I reckon he is all grown up now. Hopefully he's doing well with you, and I'm glad that you have another pet which you can cuddle with.

Unfortunately the kids let him out about six weeks after I got him and I haven't been able to find him since.
