I usually don't know unil the holiday is almost upon us if I am cooking or not. We spend some holidays alone and some with family. when we are with family we split the duties.

Only for christmas as that is when we all get together as a family. We don;t celebrate Thanksgiving at all here in Australia, and easter is just another day for me.

We have a big dinner for all three as well. Most times it's just the four of us (mom, dad, me and bro) other times we have aunts and uncles over.

We usually have a big family meal for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and family birthdays. We don't usually eat a big meal for Easter but we do still get together around lunchtime to snack (like ham rolls or chicken salad rolls) and then let the kids hunt easter eggs.

Although my husband would prefer we went out to dinner, I love to cook big meals for the holidays. With the exception of Easter, I cook for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year I will not be cooking so many dishes. We have leftovers for too long. When the kids take what they want we are stuck with what remains and still it is too much. I will now only make a light dessert for after the meal. In years past I would make 3-4 different pies. The pies were left untouched. It is not that I don't make great pastries, it is that they were stuffed from the meal!
