i was trying to delete my facebook completly so that i could make a new one but i did not want to change my email address to do so. the problem i ran into is when you click on deactivate it only deactivates it and deletes you off of everyone elses but the problem there is you can not make another facebook using the same email address because it tells you that you already have a facebook and that if i want to reactivate my account all i have to do is sign in like normal. that is not what i want to do so i am here to see if anyone else has experianced this or if anyone knows what i am doing wrong and what i can do to fix it.

I had to dig for a bit to find it as well. (They really want you to stay with them, don't they? ) The link to do so is in the Help Center. After you send in the form, you have to stay logged out for 14 days or it will re-activate. At the end of the 14 days, it gets deleted. Here's the link to delete your facebook in the Help Center: http://www.facebook.com/help/224562897555674

lol, you're very welcome! Glad I could help. Come to think of it, somebody on mylot had to tell me I could delete my account before I actually found that page too. It's way too inaccessible. They want you to stay FOREVER.

Your account will never delete. I know so many who have done this, and it will deactivate you, but not completely delete you.

There is a delete feature. It's hidden, but it exists. I've used it.

that is the exact problem i was having and it is so annoying that it wouldnt let me because if i created it i feel like i should be able to delete it. plus if you are deactivating it because you were hacked into then it does no good to deactivate it because they can still get onto your facebook and reactivate it for you. i am not sure if it will work but ^^ allyoftherain ^^ has a link there that i am going to try later tonight or tomorrow so that i can deactivate and delete my account and start over new.

I would email Facebook and explain this to them then. It may be a seperate issue, I think they have this feature because so many would get rid of their account then resign up and it's just packing their database up.

Well, even though I never had the idea of ??wanting to delete my Facebook account, I believe, however, that there is a way to do it. Now, from what I could understand in your own thread, your problem is not being able to activate a new account, because when you enter your e-mail address, the system recognizes that you are still active, and therefore allows practically to restore your old account. If it is not really possible, I advise you to create you a new account using a different e-mail address (ever if you have more than one).

i have actually heard of a lot of people that wanted to delete their facebooks lol but there are many reasons as to why people decide to delete their account. i do not have more than one but i guess i could make one but i would rather not have to do that if it is possible and it seems like i have links that will prevent that but thank you for the idea and if the links do not work that is what i will do

Here in my cafe when someone has asked me to help them delete a facebook acct. We can never find where. So what we do is open up another hotmail email address and switch the facebook acct to that address. And since we will neve ruse that email address. We are then gone basically from facebook. Not sure why facebook wont just have a delete button. Happy new years...
