The Lord of The Rings Vs. Harry Potter Series

I was recently having a discussion with a friend over both the series of movies.. However initially we differed in our opinions because I had never seen LOTR, so I thought it would be wise to comment after watching the series.. Now that I have seen both the series, I think both of them are amazing in their own ways. They just tap different corners of your imaginations.. Though now I like LOTR more, for its majestic scenes and cast, but since we grew up watching Harry Potter, it will always maintain a special place in the hearts of the people of my generation..

Personally, even though I also grew up with the Harry Potter series, I never much cared for it. I much prefer high-fantasy, the kind of fantasy that takes place in its own made-up world. I just like the scope of Lord of the Rings so much better. I don't think it's ever fair to pit one series against another and debate which one is "better." Each one will appeal more to different people for different reasons, and some people will like both. I don't think there's any reason the two need to compete. The entertainment world is big enough for the two of them, and maybe a hundred more fantasy series.

That is exactly what I think.. different or same people would like both the movies.. they are just two legendary pieces bringing lands of imaginations to life for kids and adults alike..

Yes, I always thought that arguing over series was useless. Now, I do love a good debate, nonetheless. However, I prefer debating the value of different genres.

I have not watched this one so far.To be honest, after watching the previous ones, I think the movies will never excel the novel. The novel is so fatastic,so amazing...to some degree making the movies inferior. But of course it is able to beat most of other movies easily.By the way, I am a Chinese. My dream is that one day my English will be good enough for me to read the LOFR,in English.

I like the lord of the rings better though I somewhat like Harry Potter too. It is just I am not a fan of Harry Potter, ha ha, but I've watched those movies of Harry Potter because of my brother, cousin and my ex boyfriend. They all like Harry Potter, but when it comes to scenes and cast, especially Orlando Bloom as an elf, well, I like The Lord of The Rings. I don't know why. It is just there is something about that movie.

The story of LOTR does have a defined direction which makes it more intriguing.. plus the twists and turns consisting the Trees, the Ghosts, etc, plus the vast list of characters makes it all the more interesting,, There are certain moments where one literally get goosebumps..

Since we're talking movies, it's hard to compare the tow. Both have great actors and great scenes. The story lines are hard to compare. They are both great in their own ways. Being the same genre, they can be compared, but is it fair to compare two amazing works such as these? I think I prefer Lord of the Rings simply because I have always enjoyed older settings. I like the way Tolkien creates this world and makes it so very distant from ours. That is why I read fantasy; so that I may escape from my world into another that is greatly different. Harry Potter is a great series that is very well written. I do love the series. I love them both. I am a fantasy lover. :)

Aha.. fantasy lovers are the ones keeping the dreams alive.. and It is better to identify the uniqueness of both the works.. though LOTR is my favorite too.. Tolkien, really is a wizard himself..
