in some communities when one's husband dies the brother of the deceased man is meant to take care of the widow and her kids and provide for them, but people have made this like a second marriage where you actually become a wife to your brother in law, would you agree to this and what do you think of the practise?

this is horrible because we have to earn it rightfully and whichever comes my way ,i wont accept it for sure, there is no meaning and value embedded in it ,even though its from our relation

you mean the law says they must become the wife of their brother in law or they can choose yes or no. if they must obey the law, i really do not agree that ,widow has their own choice to marry again with the man she wants. if she likes to be taken care of by her brother, she can marry him .if not , she can choose the way how she want.

its not the law but a customary tradition of some communities.so with such a community she cant marry a man of her choice but a kin to her deceased husband.

In Old Testament times, it was more than just custom for the brother of the deceased to marry  the deceased brother's widow and bring up children to his brother. The resulting children would not be his, but his brother's. This caused problems in some families. This custom was not carried forward to the New Testament, as it was part of the law of Moses. In the Christian era, the brother could be responsible for the support of his brother's widow, but he does not have to marry her.

I am so glad it's not that way here in my country..and no i don't like these kinds of practices.. it's like again treating women as if they couldn't decide on their own and that they need a man to help them get up or something.

women are very strong nowadays and are more than capable of taking care of their family.

It is a very old custom, And in those cultures the women are generally housewives, so they are subject to it to ensure the survival of their families. I personally move towards women in the workforce but as a necessary evil to make ends meet in the unnamed culture then it should be upheld. It's basically thing that made Onanism a sin with Onan and his brother's wife. (Bible)

I don't agree with this rule. why must become a wife to your brother in law? that nonsense. But if you and brother in law can love each other, that its ok. But if your brother in law is a bad person, than don't think about to become his wife. never never never think about it. Just don't agree. We live in law world. we can fight for our future. How can our life set by another person? For your brother in law is not fair too. if your brother in law have a girlfriend and they love each other, then it's not fair for your brother in law and his girlfriend.
