For past one week I am getting calls from numbers starting with- starting with +375 or +371. I know these are not from India, USA or Philippines where I have contacts. This morning I got 5 miscalls from-+37122782045, this number is not in my contact list, it is from Lativa To know things, the Professor or better the Student in me did some research. Here is the result. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/missed-375-calls.shtml People have been receiving calls from +375602605281, +37127913091 or any number starting with a +375, or +371 number. One ring & and they hang up, leaving a missed call message. . If you call back it's one of those numbers that are charged $15-$30 & they can copy your contact list in 3 sec. If you have bank or credit card details on your phone, they can copy that too. +375 is from Belarus and Afghanistan.. 371 is code for Latvia... Message circulating via SMS, social media and email warns you not to return missed calls from numbers starting with +375 or +371 because you will be charged between $15 and $30 for each returned call and your contact list and financial information will be instantly stolen from your phone. Brief Analysis There are elements of truth to the warning but the information it contains is nevertheless highly misleading and inaccurate. Reports indicate that many people have been caught by a scam in which they were charged international call fees for returning a missed call from +375 or +371 phone numbers. However, this fee was reportedly much less than $15. Moreover, the claim that simply returning the calls can result in personal data being instantly stolen from the user's phone is nonsense. It is not possible for information to be stolen from a phone in the way described. Do you receive miscalls from unknown numbers, particularly these numbers, please don't answer or call back. I wonder from where they get my number? Hope you find this information useful. Please comments on this please. Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. B.Saraf. PhD. Cheers have a lucky day ahead. January 11th 2013. CALL, MISCALL, CHEATS,

Neither of those numbers have appeared on my missed calls list, although I have known similar ones in the past. It is natural for me to return a call if I receive a missed call, but only if the code is an obvious UK landline or mobile number. Premium numbers, or even those which are not immediately identifiable, have never generated a response from me. As for knowing your number, they quite simply do not need to know it. All they need is a country code and area code, then they can make thousands of calls to a permutation of numbers. If the number does not exist then it will not matter, whereas many numbers will be in use and generated the result that they are looking for. Since missed calls are not charged, there is no limit to how many numbers they can use and a simply computer profram can dial randomly and cut after a couple of seconds.

Hello sir, I used to get calls from a number start from 543 and it is a 13 digit number, I never attended those calls or even tried to call back. Moreover, I don't have the habit of calling back to a number which I am not sure it belongs to whom. Thanks for sharing this information. We have to be careful
