My Dad is painting the hallway ceiling, yes it hasn't been done since they moved in 30 years ago. He asked me to get some tool for him in the garage, so I walked up. I wish my camera or phone was charged to take a picture of his standing process. He has the ladder at the bottom of the stairs, then two pice sof 2 by 4 from the top of the stairs , then go to the ladder, then a piece of wood, ontop of the t by 4 pieces, then has a kitchen chair to stand on to get the roof. I am standing there going, I am leaving for work soon, and he will be home by himself. We wont be home for at least 3 hours. Plus, with his leg he doesn't have good balance.

I would be asking him to find a better and safer way to paint that ceiling, or I'd be calling or going over to the neighbors and asking them if they can keep an eye on him. He's going to get himself hurt doing it that way.

No one wants to believe it will. If he's got bad headaches or dizziness then he needs to go see a doctor and definitely doesn't need to be messing with painting a ceiling, not like that.

My sister and I have told him this, but just like the rest of the family he refuses to go, because just in case they find something. I go every year for precautions, and to catch things. He does have a will, my sister and I are the ones who are in charge. We get the house, the money, the cars, everything.

He always says it wont happen, until it does happen. I also think he either get's dizzy or can't see as. He always complains about his head.

Your father has already demonstrated that he has some problems--for instance, getting your and your sister's situations mixed-up. These memory issues and poor decision making could have a number of causes. However, you have said that he will not go to a doctor for a check-up--and that is what he very much needs.

I think there is some health problem underlying as well. He wont go to the doctor nor the rest of the family. I think it may either be his eyes, or diebeties.

He might get fall. Well, just pray to almighty God that he was still safe upon doing his work because he's the only one at home.

He finished the tasks, and did fall which was good. But wasn;t practicing safe work.

That could be dangerous for him. Considering his age, he should be not doing things such as climbing ladders, and without somebody at home with him? Good thing his angels were with him when the rest of you were not at home.

It sounds a dangerous way to do it, but i know your dad knows what is best and safe. He knows what he will do that will not endanger him. I suppose by now , he has already finished it, with no injury whatsoever.

there are work even at home that we can say unsafe such as cleaning and painting of our ceiling, but of course even how unsafe it is we should always keep in our mind that we safety first every time we do something in the house and even outside of the house.

the ladder might broke anytime and if it gets confuseed we might end up falling on the floor, always have a standstill and also the camera or phone must be elite to take pictures for sure or else its big trouble ideally

Wow,it is too dangerous,so I think why not you go to hire somebody who is the skilled worker in it?Just paint your ceiling will not cost you too much and that will be more safety.

Yes, I will send him another angel. He really needs to have a 'spotter' which is someone to make sure he is steady on the ladder or the boards. Many years ago, my dad wall papered above the hallway stairs and used a similar kind of homemade ladder system. I was scared for him. He should not be by himself when up a ladder - no one should. It is always safer if there is someone below who can make sure the ladder is steady and is watching to make sure the person on the ladder is steady. It is just one of those safety issues. I understand that he wants to get the job done, but I really hope he stays safe.
