Walmart Mastercard

Everytime I go to Walmart, the cashier asks this. I was debating about whether to get one, seeing as I do most of my shopping at Walmart. I buy most of my groceries there every second week. She didn't know the details, but she gave me a brochure to read over. My credit card I have now already gives points, for every dollar. Now the Walmart card you collect rewards and go towards groceries, for example you can save them up and take it off your groceries. I thought this might be better, when I am buying household items, with my online earnings free, get points, then get free groceries.

To me Walmart kills the small businesses off. They just can't complete with them.So I tend to shop at other smaller places to helped them out If I can.I seldom shopped at Walmart whenever I can avoid It.After all by shopping at the smaller places you give them a chance to grow more stronger.

Hi surfer yes i agree. i too heard about this one people saying walmart and such stores kill the small business. But our government is trying hard to get the walmart this year to our country. Lot of controversies going on.

It is cheapier, and brings in a lot more money. I find it beneficial when I don't have the money. Most small stores here jack the prices up, for example for a box of cereal in Walmart is $5.99 in other storees it's $13.99.

I wish I could, but here the smaller business charge at least $5 more than Walmart. I simple can;t afford that I go to the cheapier store.

The interest on a Walmart card is CRAZY expensive. I was thinking the same thing, Ricki. I soon learned it was not a good idea! Still paying it off.

I know you weren't worried about the interest, but just in case, it does add up, as well as other fees my mom got stuck with. I was disappointed because I didn't see any perks with the card.

I have heard both good and bad with the card. I am not worried of the interest as it would be paid off, or else I wont use it. What type of fees? It doesn't say anything aabout annual fees for the card, which is why I was leaning towards getting one. I am reading hte brochure over Thursday night when I am home, and can really read it over.

I guess... read the fine print! It would be nice if you could get rewards for what you're buying anyway, but you should weigh the pros and the cons. Retail stores usually have ridiculously high APRs for one. If you plan on paying off the entire balance on a month to month basis, and the rewards are better than the rewards on your current card, go for it. But if you plan on accumulating a debt, or if that's what you are doing with the current credit card --- I wouldn't opt for the Wal-Mart one unless the APR was substantially lower (and I'm guessing not, because at least from my experience and some experiences I've heard from others, retail cards are bad, bad bad!).

It would be paid off just like my current credit card. I was just looking for the free points, just like my card right now. I could pay it off at the till, so I was planning on paying it with my credit card, then paying that bill like normal. Which get's both rewards points, I really don't care about the interest, nor the fees as I have never paid any of them, my card is paid off and never been charged interest.

I didn't notice there were walmart master card, but it really depends on your usage of it. I personally didn't shop that much in walmart, but if they give points on your grocery shopping, and later you can redeem those points or toward to your future grocery shopping, why not get one? I would personally encourage you to use it, and at least you can save some money. But keep that in mind, you have pay those balance off as quickly as you can, I don't want you to accumulate those high interest charges.

I would only use it for my current grocery shopping which is done at Walmart, and you can pay it at the till as well. So I was thinking of getting it using the card, paying it with my VISA to get other points (from that car), then paying my VISA off.

Hi This happens even with me. when i visit the departmental store they always insists on taking this card where i get points which i can use for shopping either online or offline. so finally i took it recently as i thought it would be beneficial. Walmart is going to enter in our country soon but there are lot of controversies regarding the same. have to wait and see if its coming or not.

I have some point cards, and have gotten some free things with it. The credit card would be good for points, to get free groceries.

If youd use it, Id get it for emergencies. As long as you pay it off each month they arent bad. I have one from walmart here. The gifts I have earned are kinda neat as well.

What have you earned? I would just use it for groceries and what I buy at Walmart. I would pay it off each month, I don't go crazy with the credit cards either.

I would think about the interest with things like that. I mean if the benefits far outweigh the cons then I say go for it. If you can pay for your groceries with coupons and online earnings, then get a bonus because you're using the card, well go for it.

That's what I was thinking, to increase my credit score, but as well receive free things. I was going to buy the household items from Walmart, so this would give me free points.

Personally, I don't have store credit cards. That is just my own policy. But if you are interested, my suggest is to read all the fine print. You would want to make sure that there are no hidden costs. But you never know, it may work out best for you.

I have 1 credit card right now, I was going to look over the brochure I got. If it's more than the rewards I get with my credit card I will use it for grocery shopping and Walmart purchases.
