Do you ever put clothes on your cat?

When my youngest sister was about 5 years old, we had a very mellow cat. My sister would dress this cat in baby clothes. My sister would put her in her doll buggy (which was large enough for this cat)put a blanket over the cat, and push around her doll buggy. Our cat would just relax and enjoy the ride. Most cats don't tolerate being dressed up in clothes. But perhaps some of you do have a story of your cat wearing a hat or clothes. I would love to hear such stories.

The Queen of cat - This is our cat Ningning. aha... not just for cats but also for clothes. our cat is a spoiled flirt cat, she likes necklace and make up and nail polish. The first time she wore the necklace she almost go frantic but eventually she learned to wear it. LOL She loves clothes specially if it is cold. Actually she's a stray cat and my sister just took care of it when she was still a kitten. Now she's the queen of the house.. her cage looks like a castle and she doesn't mind getting in her castle in the evening lol. she's provided with a lot of food inside... such a spoiled cat. By the way my sister is already 51 years old hahahaha....

That's funny. My cats use to have more pieces of furniture in the living room than we did. They had their own little recliners, a couch and an armchair. Bunk beds, too. And various pieces of real cat furniture. The recliners were for little kids and the rest was for larger dolls. The cats loved it.

I don't own a cat but just lately I saw a clip on you tube where a woman dressed her cat up and he didn't look very happy about it at all, however it did tolerate it and didn't try to get it off or anything, it is a very funny video and worth watching if you ever get the chance. The dog clothes market is huge, maybe there is room on the market for cat clothes too, actually there is probably already a site that sells cats clothes or maybe you could just use small dogs clothes for cats....:)

Well, cat pajamas, my goodness. If there are some cats who are willing to tolerate clothes, I think there will be a market for cat clothes. Many pet owners like to dress up their pets. I am sure someone will appreciate that website of cat clothes. That cat was the only cat my family owned that would tolerate wearing clothes. And my family had cats throughout my childhood.

I have never dressed up for my cat. In the past I ever gave clothes for my dog since I thought it would be cold in winter. It's better for him to wear something. However, my dog didn't like it at all. And be sure my cat doesn't like it much more. Some animals are afraid to move when they wear the clothes. Perhaps they don't get used to it yet.

I have never dress up my cat , I would not because they dont need it . I have seen some people that do it but I would not do it . I find it weird that people would do that but nothing is wrong with doing it once in a while for photos and special event though .

My family never dressed any other cat - just that one who was such a gentle and mellow cat. And she made such a wonderful pet for my younger sister.

That was a mellow cat! How funny. Do you have pictures of it? It would be great to look at old photos of something like that. When I was 7 and my brother was 6 we had 2 kittens. We used to dress them in my doll's clothes. In the seats of the doll pants I cut a holes for their little tails to poke through. They looked really funny and of course didn't like it much. My brother and I would be hysterical watching them. My mother didn't think it was funny. In the 1990's until 2007 I had a long haired cat that we used to take outside in the cat yard. She loved the winter but was obviously cold so I bought her a nice thick small doggie turtleneck sweater. She didn't like it at first but after a little while she knew if I got her sweater she was going out so she didn't mind. I also bought her a pink leather Harley Davidson motorcycle jacket. I bought a little cotton doll hat one time and tried to put it on her. She wouldn't let me. I turned around and saw my very serious male Persian looking at me. As Abby took off I said to the male, in a very sweet tone, "Hamilton. Come here baby". He looked at me then at the hat and took off. When we were kids, going back to the 50's again, we use to tie our guinea pig with string to a little plastic covered wagon where the horses go and put our hamsters in the wagon. This was on the sidewalk in front of our house. All the neighborhood kids would be there laughing. But the guinea pig wouldn't move so we had to pull his hind leg a little. He'd take a few steps then stop. The hamsters would jump out, we'd put them back in, pull his leg again and so it went - for about 5 feet. Those poor animals.

Yeah, we never hurt 'em. Just made 'em a little uncomfortable at times.

lol sounds like you lot had a riot! :D I am trying to picture the situations in my head, I bet it was really funny. I love the idea of putting a pink Harley Davidson jacket on your cat, she must have been the coolest cat on the block :) I did think poor animals but I'm sure you meant no harm and your antics did make me giggle :)

That reminds me of the film Cats and Dogs, have you seen it? The Cat a beautiful white persian, Twinkles is dressed up in these bizarre outfits, although he looks so cute, it is kinda cruel, probably why he had the persona that befitted a bad guy! Mum told us that when they were children they did the same, they would dress up the cats and put them in prams and push them along, it's healthy role play, when the cats got fed up they would jump out and run off, boy, what a sight they must have looked!

Hi Zoe! No, I do not put clothes on my cat, because I do not have a pet cat in my house. I am not to sure if cat or dogs require clothes to wear. Perhaps by nature, they are so tuned that weather does not affect them as it affects human beings.
