That is what I am doing right now because early tomorrow morning I am going to another island and I will be back probably by Monday. Trouble is, no one in the house knows how to cook. Even the helper who comes every other day does not know a thing. I have to leave food for everyone (including my 3 pet dogs) that would last them until I'm back on Monday. Have you done this before? Have you prepared food for members of your family that would last for three days? Of course, much of the food is fried. I am frying almost everything, it's only the bones for the dogs which are boiled. Whew!

Yes, how do you know? In fact I also have labels for the dogs' food, what's for morning, afternoon, evening. My helper is kinda like a robot, you have to dictate every step she makes.

hahahaha... just practical thing to do to label each so they will not have problems, if they used the food not for the day and consume the food for a day which is not supposedly done, they will have problems... they might call delivery hahaha

You did great.. but will the other house members survive on fried foods..haha and you told about your helper, that's the funny part, doesn't know cooking..is that helper a male or a female? I myself can make a few type of foods, some of them are frying mostly..I'm still trying to learn how to make soups.. Have a nice trip to the island.

May I ask who's bones you are boiling? Sorry couldn't resist a little joke. Whenever my mum goes away to see her sister to escape the old man, she makes up meals for whilst she is away, because my father is so damn lazy he won't do a thing, honestly she is more like his mum than mine. I won't cook him anything, I see to myself, but mum has to readily prepare his meals for him.

She's just like a real mom. As to the bones Wolfie, you can be sure it's not human bones. I can't even watch a chicken being dressed.

So you've been really busy cooking! Cooking is quite tiring if you are cooking food not for just a day consumption. The last time I did a lot of cooking was last Christmas and New Year's Eve. I really cooked lots of food so that I was so exhausted. Nevertheless I was happy because my family enjoyed all the food I cooked fro them.

Well, so you don't cook for your dogs, you can buy something for them from the store until you come back. In my opinion everybody knows how to cook as long as he or she can read simple recipes, it's just probably they're lazy to learn and try cooking. My mother didn't teach me how to cook but I learned it by myself, experiment... and this time, I can cook meals for over 50 people. Before, I just order foods if we have birthday party or even Christmas and I found it very expensive. So, I did try and it works for me. Tell your helper and some members in the house to watch you or help you when you cook, so they will have idea in cooking and how fun and worth it is when you learn.

You can fry up a bunch of hamburger, put it in a ziploc bag or a tupperwear and then you can freeze it. When you're family is hungry all they have to do is re heat the meat and throw it in some hamburger helper or use it for tacos!

Yes, i can understand how difficult it is for a female to take care everything. 3 days food to be made in advance for all would be very tiring but if they can arrange with bread and boiled eggs ,or salads, cornflakes would be wonderful. Anyways, all the best and enjoy your trip to an another island.

Wow, your cooking food that good for three days for you family it shows that your really love them including food for the dogs. When I am still working since most of the time I am working 12 to 14 hours I used to cook meal for the whole day for my husband where he can reheat it anytime he get hungry. I never cook for food for three for my family or husband since they know how to cook and can able to order food outside if they want to. Also aside for frying, cooking with calamansi, lemon or vinegar will help the food not to spoiled easily.

I'm sure anyone knows how to fry! But then for your own peace of mind, it's better if you will just cook ahead for them. You can leave them fried fish, it can last for a week without spoiling.

I cook ahead and freeze dinners. Don't know if you have a freezer. I don't do a lot of frying. Just put everything in the oven and let the oven do the cooking. Saves me standing over the stove, stirring whatever is in the frying pan. Have you tried baking or roasting dinners. Like roasting a chicken? That saves you time cooking and a chicken can last two to three days, depending on the size of the chicken and how many people are in a family. Can't your family do their own cooking? My husband often cooks breakfast. If I had to leave for three days, I would roast a chicken and he would make bacon and eggs for a dinner. Also, peanut butter and jam sandwiches make a great meal. And most kids can make their own peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Sounds like you will have to teach your family and your helper how to cook, so that they are not so helpless and they can learn to cope when you are gone. It would be good for all of you, if your family and help could cook simple and easy meals.

My helper has very low IQ. She does not get instructions no matter how many times you repeat them. I am afraid she might cause fire.

Hi Cutie,I love cooking the fried food.Hahh, but it seems that the food you cooked for the dogs is not so healthy. They can't eat too much fried food, lol.Well,I cook everyday, but what I should cook seems a big headache to me.I can understand you,but we don't have the choices now.So just do it.Have a nice day.

whoaw! that's a lot of cooking! I have never cooked that much and for 3 days. But why is the helper don’t even know how to fry? Well, I don’t also know how to fry before… lol! It was so kind of you that you also thought about the dogs food for 3 days while you’re away. That’s nice! You can also try making adobo, it will last at least for 2 days.
