Nothing is permanent in this world.

Hi all! I learnt it that nothing is permanent on any website. There used to be a website viz. - 'Associated Contents' in the yesteryears for amateur writers like me. I posted many articles and poems there in the hope that I could visit those articles as and when I feel like. However, due to reasons unknown to me the site was taken over by someone else and it became 'Yahoo Associated Contents'. Recently, when I tried to log in, I was shocked to find that even the renamed site is no longer existing and has been replaced by Yahoo voices. On Yahoo voices I was unable to find my earlier profile or my old articles. I did not keep back up of all my articles/poems, therefore I felt sad that I lost some of my write ups. My questions to you are - were you a member of earlier existing site called Associated Contents? Are you aware that it no longer exists? Did you keep back up of your articles/poems? If not what are the options left for you? Last but not the least to satiate your hunger for writing, which particular site now you visit and post your articles/poems. Will be thankful for your valuable responses.

I had heard about Associate Content and i heard good things about it always. It is sad to see good sites have stopped working, and the only places that pay us well have been shut down. Sometimes it is heart breaking. But we are helpless and what is this Yahoo Voice? i mean have they provided the Associate Content employees a new job or they just left them on streets?

Hi Archie! Yes, you are right. Associate Contents used to pay us (those who are from India) per article per page view basis. Thereafter, they stopped paying us completely. Earnings were meagre. However, what pinches me my write ups got lost and no longer on Yahoo voice. Yahoo voice appears to be the new avatar (version) of Yahoo associate contents with some new look and modifications and probably contributors of old Associate Contents have not been adjusted or retained. Thanks for kick starting the post and sharing your views. PS - I find that notifications are not coming from mylot and this is causing lot of problem for the people like me, who rely on notifications for updates.

Yes I am a member and have been for 6 years. You have to publish at least once every 90 days. I make a little over $200 a month just on page views. I'm not an ameature writer. It's not like knoji and Squiido where you get almost nothing. I've worked several years as a ghostwriter also. I have over 1300 articles on yahoo voices. Yahoo paid a few million for Associated Content. It's a great place to write. You may have lost your content if you didn't write at least once every 90 days. You also may have lost your account if you aren't from the US or Canada.

Hi Point! I did not know that am supposed to write at least every 90 days. Due to one reason or the other I did not log into the site for many months. I logged in recently and found out that now it is - Yahoo Voice. I think I can not continue with my old account, I need to start afresh and now it appears they have stringent guidelines for accepting an article. Thanks for enlightening me.

I was a member of Associated Content but didn't contribute. Was mainly there to read friends' articles. Since I haven't tried to visit the site for a few months, I did not know that it had been killed. That's a shame. It was good. Now with Yahoo taking over, I can see further deterioration. I expect Yahoo Voices will meet the knife as well.

Hi there! It is good that you are aware that such an site existed earlier. Just try and see if you could reach your profile there? It is disheartening that Yahoo took over and threw our contributions at some dark places. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I was and still am a member of Associated Contents. It was merely taken over by Yahoo. Yes, Yahoo Voices. You should still be able to get in. I was able to. Maybe you have been gone too long. I bet you are already a member of the sites I use.

Hi there! It is good to hear that you are still a member of Associated Contents and you could log into Yahoo voices. Will you please guide me how to search my old Avatar on Yahoo voices. When I log in they prompt me to log in through my Yahoo mail account and if I do so it does not connect me to my already existing Avatar. See if you could help me. Thanks for sharing and joining in, as always.

My stuff's still on there as far as I'm aware, and I was an AC member... never joined or did anything for the Yahoo versions. They still converted my account over and everything's there as far as I can see. That said, I can't stand the Yahoo version: it's impossible to navigate, the reports are awful, the earnings hidden in sub-sub-sub-menus... ugh. They took something great and turned into a big stinky mess, IMHO.

Hi there! It is good if your stuff is intact on AC. You mean to say that you could access it and could make additions and deletions. You are lucky. I have not attempted to post on Yahoo Voices as yet. Moreover, they do not pay us Indians for our articles. Thanks for sharing.

Earning was not an issue. I know am not going to be paid.

As I understand it, they don't pay ANYONE outside the US any more - unless you were an AC member and earning then. Apparently that entitles you to continued payments because you signed up under the AC contract.

Yes I have realized that nothing is permanent in website too. I write for EC though it is still operating and have an honest administration I see to it that I save all my articles. It is for safety too. Thanks for this reminder.

Hi there! How is the site called EC. Do they accept new writers and do they pay?

Hi Dpk, I have deleted most of my articles when Associated Content announced that it would stop paying international writers. Right now, I have gotten back the account from Yahoo, and I will likely delete the account forever. No point posting in a place and let Yahoo earns from my content.

I haven't experience this incident but I left few writing sites due to my personal reason. I am now writing and giving more time to one writing site that I feel interested with (maybe because I can't maintain too much sites and prefer to concentrate on one which I feel is worth my time) So you are writing..maybe then you want to join us or are you also writing on the writing sites where I am a member? Have a great weekend

Hi Jai! It means you were not a member of older Associated Contents. Yes, it is true it is difficult to keep track of too many sites. It is better to concentrate on one or two trusted sites. I understand now a days you write on 'Expertscoloumn'? I do not find much time to write on a site but if some day I want to write something a good sites surely helps to share my views. Thanks for sharing. :-)

I was never the member of that site though I did read a few good poems by you out there. Even the travel article you wrote there was good, and the pictures of roses were superb. You never know what you can find on Internet. :) Like I found a couple of guys who duped my papa about 25 years ago. And yesterday, I found that a company that one of my friends thought had closed down has actually been renamed. So I am going to tell her that. :) Something good, something bad...and then again something good may be?

Hello Vandana! It is heartening to note that you still remember my poems and travelogues posted on Associated Contents. Yeah, now I have come to realize that if internet is good it has its flip side also and we should be prepared for it. Thanks so much for joining us. :-)

Sorry to hear that your articles and poems aren't available there anymore. I only started writing at the new site recently. Yeah nothing is permanent. My articles that I have at Yahoo Voices may not be there in five years or more. I haven't been writing as much as I would like to but I'm sure others will recommend great sites you can go too.

I wrote articles for Associated Content in 2007. I'm still writing for this site. Although we do not get paid as much as we used to under the old name because the people who took over have different rules. I still enjoy writing for them.. The new name is yahoo Content Network. Why not try it out.

I am sorry to hear about this. This is why I am weary about those backup your files sites too. Even those could be completely lost if you rely on them completely. I've lost only a few unimportant things when sites disappear luckily. Most writings I put up on the net aren't too important and only good for the purpose of sharing them online or maybe earning a few cents.

i've heard about take over by yahoo but i dont if older user can not login anymore, but i believe any user besides you have the same problem that they still want to see their article. We should learned from this that we should always 'have to' make back up every article that we made, at least in our local harddrive, or you can upload to cloud this on the net, there are lots of space on the net with free and big space. You can save your article by each file or making a group like poems, internet for each file that make more simple. If you update your article, you just need download and then upload back after you updated.
