I just want to share my knowledge regarding sanitary napkins which most women are using it whenever they have their period. My cousin told me that these pads are made of recycled papers. I was speechless and I couldn't imagine that women like me are using pads made of papers. I joined this seminar recently together with my cousin because of curiosity. There I found out that she was right. On the video that I saw, there's a factory for sanitary pads, it shows the process on how to make sanitary napkins and it includes bleaching and everything else. They are not suppose to use those things because its very dangerous in our health. It is very harmful because it has dioxin which can cause many illnesses, including cancer. Does anybody know about this?

Oh , i guess this is so true and in high percentage to those pads which are very cheap. Recycled papers are dirty and contaminated . I am learning a lesson here for i am so fond of buying cheap pads , no wonder when it stayed long it was bit itchy and smelly . From now on i will buy the branded one , i will risk health for cheap pads , never mind if its bit expensive , health should be our first priority. Thanks for this information friend ! It pays really to be here , especially if got no time to read news paper. People gives useful information here.

I guess everything that is processed is not good for the health. We can always go back to the traditional method of wearing pieces of cloth that women need to wash each time.

The price of sanitary pads varies considerably. I buy the cheapest ones ten for fourteen pence in my local supermarket. I didn't know these are made from recycled paper and they have dioxin in them. I hate the idea of getting cancer. My period comes once a month and lasts up to 5 days so I need to use sanitary pads. I will look into the dangers of them so many thanks.

Long time ago a friend of mine also told me about it and I didn't pay attention to it.. is it really true? They say it was safe to use even though it is made of recycled paper because they put something that sanitizes it.. so let's be all careful specially all the ladies out their to be careful when using sanitary napkins let's use the one that we can trust...

I don't know about this but perhaps not all brands right? Like the expensive brands, for sure they won't compromise their company because there's always an inspection if the product will be harmful, although I admit that there's always someone as inpsector would be paid just to approve the products. Thanks for the infos.

I would like to think that would be for the cheaper brands..I have experience with the cheaper ones as well as the higher end ones and I actually took a few apart to see just what was inside and it seems like the cheaper ones are more paper product where it seems the higher end ones is more like a fabric or something..so no this doesn't shock me too much...

It is quite probable that some cheap sanitary pads may contain recycled paper fibre but responsible manufacturers will certainly not do this. Make sure that you ALWAYS purchase from reputable manufacturers, even if their products are more expensive. Always be very suspicious of cheap imitations. Paper is essentially cellulose fibres (either from cotton or wood) and there is nothing inherently wrong with it as an absorbent so long as the manufacturer uses very high grade material which has been guaranteed to contain less than the approved levels of certain chemicals.

I am not aware of this. But it did shock me. Do all companies make use of paper?

I have never heard anything about it. But, it is a very scary thought. I am sure, it's not the only product, that uses things it shouldn't.
