There are some things we grow up with till we believe they are true.i grew up made to believe if a black cat crosses your path that's bad luck,if you knock down a cat with a car you are going to knock down a human being.this things become so much a part of our life we extend the belief to our kids,do you have such beliefs and can we share them?

when I was a kid: I will be eaten by a lizard..or the lizards will gang up on me. if I will not stay in one place. NOW Adult If I save money all the savings will just be used for emergency unwanted situation. (so I don't save money) If I put on a lipstick without brushing my teeth, I will spoil my lipstick (even if it is brand new one) These are the list... I will think of other beliefs I have. Ahhh yes, If I laugh today... (as in laugh) I will cry tomorrow. Looks like I have more silly beliefs when I am now an adult than when I was a kid.

Hi Mavic! I somehow agree to the last one: laugh today and cry tomorrow. Not all but there were moments where I laughed so hard that it made me cry and then unexpected things starts happening afterwards. Like a a big fight within the family. I really don't want to believe in it so as much as possible I would keep the happy thoughts in my mind after laughing so hard.

Giggles.. and Vern.. Yes, let us erase that thought that if we are happy now, tomorrow we will cry... Let us all be positive.. that we will always be happy and if problems come we will be able to solve it with courage and beauty. LOL Verna, yes, that's what I observed when I save money.. (my lame excuse of not saving LOL) Vern are you sure you don't like to believe on my number 2? about the lipstick. seems that it is true.. LOL

I agree with savings and laughing, it happens all the time. Even with my sisters, we talked about how happy we are today then the next day will be facing big problems. About money, I have saved some money before but mostly it became payment for my parent's debt.

Yes I do have crazy beliefs, yet I believe them to be true. I believe each person is his/her own best friend ( any more is just asking for trouble.) I believe that those who depend on religion for anything at all, are reaching for the stars, and yet those who are super religious seem to need the comfort that comes with it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! But, if a weirdo is someone who doesn't fit the society in which he lives where does this leave Albert Einstein, and Jesus the Christ?

we are entitled to have personal beliefs as long as they dont make us weirdos in the society we live in.

of course I too have heard things like this. But I don't believe in these things. I have heard that if the cat crosses from our left side to right side then only some problem will be there and if it is from right to left then there is no problem. Like that, if some lizard fell infront of us if we are about to start a journey then some bad things will happen for us in that journey. Like this I have heard so many things. But these are all some silly stuffs in my view. Since we are going to someplace, why a cat can't go to its destination?

they are just funny beliefs that have stuck and we need to let go of so that we stop thinking twice about everything we hear and trying to see what direction the black cat crossed our path.

Hi pomwango! My family has this belief that if you bit your tongue someone is thinking or is gossiping about you. Then the person that bit their tongue would ask someone a number from 1-26. The number that was chosen would correspond to the alphabets. For example I bit my tongue and I ask you to give me a number and you say 7. That's the letter G, somehow the person who's thinking or backbiting you starts with the name G. It's kinda weird really but we can't take it away from us, it's like a habit already.

The same goes when sneezing. If you talk about someone behind their back or someone talking about you you sneeze. :)

I remember when I was very young, my father noticed that I have a mole on my left shoulder, he said I'll be carrying a cross or a burden in my life. I think, right at this moment, I'm carrying a cross now... But come to think of it, everyone does have a burden to carry, with or without a mole on their shoulders. There are a lot of things in this world that have so many interpretation from different people, different cultures and generations. For all we know, the thing that we consider bad today is in fact will be recognized as the greatest thing in the future. It's all depend on your own perception and personal experience. So I don't call it a burden, instead I consider it as a challenge which eventually will define me in the end!

that's so true, what we consider bad is a blessing to someone.like in the old times people thought twins were bad luck and some people threw them in the forest to die but we now know twins are double blessings in a family.

As a I ndian Iam having a lot of these. It reeally starts when it happens with any one that may be accidemtly or by any ways.Actually when I was small I was told and as I grow it had serious effects on me.Sometime I start following them very seriously and sometimes I don't care. 1.The cat one you gave,if cat crosses road then don't cross the road. And I had seen many drivers stopping the car. 2.If a black crow continuosly make noise then someone will die,so if black crow is in garden he will be thrown a stobe to flew away. 3.If You see sparrows the normal one then follwin will occur: 1 for sorrow ,2for hapiiness,3for guest

oh i have heard about that too! when you see black cat that means that is a bad omen. then there are this another one that when you see a chicken and its chick walk past you, you have got to follow and see where they stopped, this meant that the place has gold in it. :D there were a lot of others that was passed down to us... like when its brown out, you should not eat because the bad or evil spirits will dine with you. :D

There is a lot being said about evil eyes. Just last week I almost believed it. Some friends had dropped in and that they were amazed at the fruits that were hanging on one of my trees. They were indeed of good quality and now what I see is every single new fruit that shows up on the tree gets to the ground because of parrots. They barely start showing on the tree and the next moment they are down. I am forced to believe in evil eyes now!

i have heard about evil eyes to the extent i see some people put mascara and eye liner on their small children in a belief that if you look at their children with evil eyes it never works.
