Criminology vs Other Courses :)

This news got my attention, actually made me think over and over again. A certain PNP Chief (if you know him) said he wants graduates of education, psychology, social work, mass communications and other courses to become police officers. According to him, he believes that teachers, psychologists, social workers, journalists, and other professionals could serve the PNP better than criminology graduates. This is a quote from a local news paper that I read: “I don’t even want criminology graduates to become police officers because they are just fitted to become workers at the crime laboratory”. What do you think of this statement? Because for me, I find this article (and the PNP Director's comments) truly hard-hitting especially for registered criminologists or criminology students. Just my thoughts, but maybe he got a point. Really not sure... Any criminology graduates out there? Haha!

In my opinion, if they find the Criminology course to be lacking in "depth" with regards to the quality of education that their graduates have, then they should start making a new curriculum for Criminology students, right?

Haha! Exactly! Why bother other people with a different profession? They should just concentrate upgrading the quality of Criminology education.

You know, I think that I can see his point to a certain extent. However, I really don't think that this point is something that has really been properly made. The reason that I don't think that this point is something that has really been properly made is because of the fact that the jobs of many of these other careers are careers that are very important for the well being of the generations that are only up and coming right now.
