As part of a friends request I'm starting this discussion. I love trying to find or come up with some cute things to do with my daughter and my nephew. My youngest child can't get participate yet since he is under a year. I got this idea called the Whip Cream Snowman. I got this idea from my childhood. When I was little and I was in daycare the teachers would every couple of weeks take men's shaving cream and put it all over the tables for us kids to play with this was also another way for them to clean down the tables and also a good active to do in the winter time. So pretty much you can build small things with the shave cream or of course draw in it. So I took that and want to use whip cream. I got my mom's okay for it and so next week we will do a whip cream snowman at her house. This way if the kids try to put it in there mouth it's something edible for them. I think the kids are going to have a ball with it. This week since it's valentines day we are doing brownies tomorrow.

You sure do know how to catch fun and be creative with your children. the Whip Cream Snowman is a classic idea. I’ll try that with my son when he is older.

It's something to do with children a year and above. I try to do fun things with my daughter and her cousin. My son can't join in yet. My nephew is autistic so you have to do things with him all of the time or when he get's bored he starts bouncing off of the walls like a kid on a lot of sugar. His mind needs to be on something and lot of the time his parents wants him to be quite and not saying anything and to watch tv all day long.

It is unreasonable to expect a child, autistic or not, to be quite and not saying anything and to watch tv all day long. They need to be active for that is how they grow. You are doing a good job by taking him in for the fun times!

He has a mind of a two year old so it helps to have a two year old and to know what they like to do. Kids love to get messy so I want them to get messy have fun from time to time. Every day can be fun but some days just need to be extra fun and those are the days that normally a parent will remember. Sure he enjoys wanting tv but not all day long. He is a kid after all just like any other kid they need to run off there energy every day.

I too remember the times of doing shaving cream art when I was a little girl and there were a few times that I did this with my children as well. However, I actually have to say that I don't think that I would ever consider doing the same thing with whipped cream. The reason that I wouldn't consider doing it with whipped cream is because of the fact that I know that the end result of doing whipped cream art would be a huge sticky mess.

That is when washable place mats come in handy. We have place mates in which they kids do stuff on and it's just easy to put in the dishwasher and wash. Sure they might get sticky but pretty much every day one of both of them are sticky from something.
