Many of my friends like seafood compared to chicken, beef, pork etc. They say it tastes good, but more allergic compared to other meats. But most among them like big prawns. But it also depends how one cooks it, I feel a good chef is one who makes such things tasty and also those cooks. It is tourist season here and much of seafood is more demanded. The chefs and cooks are high demand may be those who know the art to make things tasty.

I love seafood as I grew up in Vancouver, and when I moved EAst to the Prairies, I was surprised that few of my friends loved it. They would rather have chicken, etc. But the secret is that when you cook seafood, you use a light hand. You watch it and you know what spices are necessary to make ti taste good.

You're welcome. I have tried to find what is the best spices to use on Salmon. I buy fillets because there is just one of me and find that it is hard to get the best combination. With prawns or shrimp, I use garlic and that hot chili sauce and use them with pasta and garlic. I like that combination.

I agree with you. Actually the seafood has a natural fresh taste and this is quite different than other meats. Even if you just steam to cook it, it will also be delicious. Whereas you have to add the seasoning to the pork, chicken, beef so that they will be tasteful. Here it is common for us to cook the seafood by steaming, especially when the seafood is still alive and fresh.

Once I did some blood tests at a clinic. The doctor said that I had some allergy to some foods but she couldn't identify which as the blood test I paid for was limited. The doctor recommended I stayed away from foods that can generally easily cause allergies. I found out I wasn't that allergic to a lot of seafoods though. My mom's friend who sometimes stays with us cooks really well and she can make seafood dishes seem palatable compared to other people's cooking.

It is difficult to compare food so different in taste as seafood with chicken. Both can be wonderful if well cooked and awful if the cook is a bad one. I buy often the unexpensive mussels and make very good dishes with them. I even save the fish heads for soups and risottos.

I think any food will be better if prepared and handled by a good chef. But personally I prefer seafoods although I also eat chicken, pork, and beef. Good thing I am not allergic to seafoods.

I agree seafoods are tastier and delicious if they are cooked in special way. The prawns are just yummy with garlic and other seafoods can be saute with coconut milk and with pepper and they would really taste delicious. :-)

I actually disagree, mainly because I am not a lover of seafood, I much prefer to eat chicken and pork which are my favourite meats. I very rarely eat seafood, usually cod and that's it. I remember once a good friend of mine invited me for dinner and didn't say what was on the menu, when she told me it was squid I was eating, I actually heaved and had to rush to the toilet, I couldn't touch another mouthful, it was disgusting. I am not adventurous when it comes to food, so rarely try anything new. I just never developed a tasting for seafood.

I have always preferred "shellfish" as I eat it from it's shell, and I know the meat has not been tampered with...as today, there is such a preponderence of "messing with our foods," by processors. Dogfish being sold as crab...bottom fish (highest Mercury level) sold as Haddock or cod! If I eat it out of the shell..I'm Happy!

I don't understand also why so many seafood cause allergy to a lot of people. I am generally more a meat and vegetable person, but I also really like fish and prawns. And the food I love absolutely the most are crabs.

I think seafoods tastes good if they are still very fresh. But once they have been stored in the fridge for a day or two they lose the taste. I like seafoods specially prawns, but still i like chicken more. I guess i am more of a chicken person. I specially like chicken when it is fried or turboed and the skin so crispy.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, sea foods are tastier but they cause allergy if consumed in huge numbers. I have always loved to have sea foods especially the prawns and as u said they need to be cooked properly otherwise they wont taste better. What say?

Seafood is delicious, but I can't accept some way of cooking, especially for no heating.I more like fish in river or lake, partially because I come from a city near river, and had tasted so many freshwater fish in my childhood.I just came back from my hometown few days ago,and enjoyed a dish made of red carp, next time will be after two years......

Seafoood if not taken carefully it could give a harmful side to health, as water becomes poisonous and this results in dying of such sea creatures, if they are consumed I feel it would really a mess of health or may be life, nice reponds thank you..
