I found the kitten I want! / myLot

After the Craigslist scam from this weekend I've been searching online to find a kitten of the same breed as the ones posted in the ad. I've never gotten a pet from a breeder and we usually rescue or adopt our dogs. I feel bad that I'm not rescuing a kitten but after seeing how cute these kittens were I just can't seem to find a kitten that's just as cute in a shelter. I found a breeder in Arkansas and we've been emailing back and forth about a kitten she has available. She had planned on keeping him to show but after talking with me she has decided that she would let me have him. He was born on 12/15 and the breeder said he'd be ready to get sent to me in 2 weeks. I'm a bit nervous because I've never bought an animal from the internet, even if it was a breeder online. She seems to be legit and I've been looking over her site at all the details and everything seems to be ok. I'm really excited because I've been begging my parents for a kitten for over a year now and they're finally letting me get one. The kitten still has to be neutered but the breeder will only have the procedure done once half the deposit has been paid and she receives the signed agreement from us. I want to get everything sent in quickly so he can get neutered and have his week to heal so then he can get sent to us after 2 weeks.

. We have rescued many kitties since I got married, but when I was single my husband and my neighbor gave my kitties as birthday presents. I love them. Actually we have 5 kitties

Thank you :) I'm so excited that my dad is finally letting me have a kitten. I feel bad that I couldn't find one I liked at a shelter to rescue. But maybe next time I get a kitty I'll be able to find one I like at a shelter.

I am very glad you found the kitten you want, but be very careful it's not another scam. See you found the person online and the kitten is from a breeder. I'm not saying it is another scam but be very careful and check everything out real well. Good luck to you.

So far everything seems good. I found the kitten from a breeder's website and we've been emailing back and forth. Last night I sent half of the payment to her through PayPal. I think if anything goes wrong, Paypal protects us somehow

Yes, he will be a purebred. I've actually never bought a pet from a breeder, I've always gotten dogs from a rescue or they were given to us off the streets. Before finding the breeder, I did look in all the local shelters but I just couldn't seem to find one that really struck me. Then I found this little guy on the breeder's website and he's just too cute. I can't wait for him to get here so I can meet him.

I have ragdoll cats and they are a great breed of cat.You did not say what breed of cat you were getting. I use to only get rescue cats and I will say that my ragdolls were all kitten when I bought them. Since a child I had always wanted a ragdoll cat, so even though im in my 40s I will say getting my favorite breed has been really worth the wait. Good luck with the kitten.

The kitten I'm getting is a British shorthair. He's a silver tabby with the black swirly stripes and a white chest and legs. I also like ragdolls, their coloring is really pretty I feel that the breeder is being genuine and she seems pretty nice. I'll only be getting one kitten. I already have 2 dogs at home and it was a real struggle to finally get my dad to let me have a kitten. My dogs are really friendly to animals and the breeder said the kitten is used to dogs. So I'm hoping that since he's young enough he'll follow the dogs' lead and get comfortable with them

Ragdolls don't have much appeal for me and the ones I have met are described as 'indoor cats'. I don't believe any cat wants to be indoors all the time. I hope the breeder is genuine and when you get your cat I would like to suggest that you still rescue a kitten of about the same age. I have two cats and two are better than one, they groom each other, even wash one another's ears - something they would not let any owner do for them. If you get them both at the same time they will bond quickly and you won't have the territorial problem to deal with.
