A month ago, I was stop by the police while I was on my way home from work. I was guilty of broken brake light, and fortunately the police officer only gave me a warning. Last night, I was driving home around 9:40 P.M. from my friend's house, and 2 police cars stop me on the road. I was scared, and I thought that the brake light not working again, because I just replace a new one. The police officer walk up to my car, and really confused me with his reason to stop me. He told me that the reason he stop me, I have a cracked taillight, and he also asked me whether I had accident before, I said "yes". Then he asked me why did I drove so fast, 60 mpg in a 45 mpg. I told him that I didn't realize that I drive that fast. I show him my driver's license, and later he had another officer hand me back the license, then another officer told me not to drive too fast. Luckily, I got a verbal warning too. So, rule number #1, try to avoid go out in late night, you will be the easy target to those patrol officers. Rule Number #2, trying to drive slow, no matter what.

If these guys are really as desperate as they seem, they can and will pull you over for driving too slow. Most cops tend to ignore it and only go after the speeders, but if it benefits them...

Well, anyway, lesson learned here, do not drive too fast at night time. I wasn't pay attention my speed, nor I would know the speed limit.

Best advice is to make sure your car is always in order, you have your papers and insurance with you and drive according to the speed limit. I heard the in the USA especially in the South in smaller communities the police patrol at night and target cars with young men, especially if they are driving too fast. You were lucky twice in a row to get away with a warning. Be careful and don't push your luck.

One thing to remember is that each month the police have a quota to make. Meaning, they have to write x amount of tickets for the month. And they will find any stupid reason to pull someone over and give them a ticket. And also remember that driving late at night, they see you're alone and an easy target. At least thats how they take it. I once seen a police car parked around the corner from my house, writing parking tickets in the car for no reason. And it was Sunday. Go figure.

That must be scary for you. Now get home earlier so that it does not happen to you again. Obey the law.

Just be safe on the road , take care of yourself and make sure everything is in order on your vehicle . Some police are just there have nothing better to do sometimes but at least those two just give you a verbal warning. Have a good day

I have never been stopped by a police or traffic officer before whether here or back in the Philippines. I am just a new driver and let's say I am still afraid to break the law even in the slightest. But then, I don't think even if we are experienced drivers we can already make slight offenses. You're right though, that certain circumstances that we may not control and just make a few mistakes here and there. Of course like you said, it wouldn't hurt to be extra careful.

I wonder if the policemen are really bored to stop people over little things like that... They should take care of drivers that are drunk. On the other side... I knew a girl that told me that she was stopped by police while driving a car. They asked for her drivers license but she didn't have it. At all. She had to pay 600 pln wich is equal to about $200 or something. It was very irresponsible of her to driving without license like that. They made a good job to stop her.
