...it was a long, no power day

I was unaware this morning when I woke up that the company that provided our power will enact some repairs. Which means no power for almost the whole day. Since I was unprepared, I was quite bored with the whole day though it was not as productive as I would like to be. As per routine, I went to the mall as any other person because it such a place of activity and let’s face it, better atmosphere due to the ventilation. I had to go to an internet shop t inform someone that I cannot be contacted or online today due to the lack of power. When I was in the shop, it was packed with students and non-students with the need the internet for some thing or another. I just asked for 30minutes and their charge was way too high for my tastes. I would have liked it if they have higher speed but it turns out that it was so slow. At least, I’m back with my normal internet routine and trying not to miss my online activities before tomorrow comes. That’s another day.

Hi there jeanney! Where are you located? usually here in the Philippines we no longer experience power shortages and power issues. But i guess what you experienced was a one time glitch? ( I hope so). Power is almost always available to us now and so we usually neglect and does not give it much important. We take it for granted nowadays... Now i think i will have to try to save some power in my own little ways.

Hi Jeanney, I hope everything is better now. I hope it is better for you in the area. Its annoying when these companies ask too much and are just quick to collect money but they never really are attentive to the needs and concerns of the people.

CALABARZON area. It's one of those routine and maintenance work from what I have heard. I don't mind it really but a heads-up would be nice. I agree that we take it for granted like many of things we have these days. And the fact that it's price is going up isn't exactly comforting.

With the kind of lifestyle we now have, power is such an important commodity already. It runs virtually everything in our lives from our internet, food, and many other things in our live. So sad to hear that your routine was somehow disturbed by this power failure you have in your place. I just hope that it doesn't happen in my place. I think summer time is coming and water levels in the dam would also go down which means lesser power generated which will in turn go to a higher power rates or we might have some brownouts like the one you have.

one whole day without power is quite a long day, especially if one's lifestyle is attached to the modern tech-gadgets. for some people, it is ablessing because they can be free from the distressing conditions of super-connectedness to the world and too much information on media. they prefer to spend it with the people they love and a book they have been wanting to read.

yes. sometimes it is a blessing. You get to focus on other things and activities rather than stare at a computer screen. It's also a chnace to rest or see the outside world. Guess it makes us aware that there is life and bustling activity offline.

Did the provider make any announcements or advisories beforehand? It sucks when you have lots of things to do and you just can't because of power interruptions. Good thing you have some other alternatives and options and to manage the disruption.

I don't believe there was an announcement. because it if there was one, I could have worked an all-nighter and I could sleep in with ease. besides my aunt would always advise to fill up pails of water since it is always accompanied by loss of water services.

I also hate cafes. I always feel that something is looking at my back or over my shoulder. It really stinks because I soemtiems handle very personal things online(I meant that by passwords and other stuff) I could never sure unless I am using my own computer.
