Do you think the Government should Subsidize Online Earning Websites Like Mylot?

With so many people out of work, do you think that the government should subsidize online sites like mylot so people could be paid a good living wage? The government does this with other industries in order to boost the economy. I think, that it might be a good idea, people who are not working can at least make some money at home, online. Perhaps, if sites like Mylot were subsidized, then we could make a good wage here, And the government could gather some nice cultural information regarding the diversity of it's population, it's wants and needs at places like this. The Census is way too out of date, now a days, it's social media. What do you think? Should internet working be subsidized?

What? Where would the government get the money to subsidize this place? Just think about it. The government's money is OUR money. Yours and mine... where else would it come from? If myLot were ever in cahoots with the government for any reason, I would be out of here and so would many others. If subsidies were the answer to a bad economy, we would be in far better shape than we are now.

This is very interesting, reading these responses. I really wish that we could get more people IN government to come to these sites, so many people have so many awesome and diverse opinions on things, I think it would keep them in touch with the way people really think, and not just phone surveys and voter polls. Thanks for contributing!

I guess it could work. The problem is a lot of sites don't exclude any countries, so it would be hard to get a gov't to join in when they are funding other countries' citizens.

See that is a point. The internet is not just 'one governemt'. It involves many governments, so the subsidy is not just coming from the United States, it comes from participating governments. I we did not have to declare it, it would be a very very good thing indeed for people. If all governments got involved, it would not be a drain on just one system, all share, all benefit. Who knows? Something like this could help people.

Actually, the government's could get a lot in return. many like to keep tabs on how their people think, what they want, etc. The governments could post 'lead in' questions, as regular people, to find out what people need, want and can contribute. I believe that there are so many brilliant people out there, who have solutions to things but do not get heard, because they have not gone to Ivy League colleges. Places like mylot allow them to be heard on issues. Governments can gain much, and they would also have people making a wage and that adds purchasing power to theiri countries economic system. :)

I agree it certainly could help many people. It could potentially increase earnings online to a decent amount, since it is basically just extra cash to earn right now. It would be a nice thing, but governments would probably only see that it would cost them and they wouldn't get anything in return, and as the government often looks out for itself, they would most likely avoid subsidizing :(

My Lot is an American site and it has members from lots of other countries. I am from England and there are many other nationalities on lovely My Lot. I doubt the American government would have enough money to subsidize My Lot. If it looked at it then it would see it is an international place.

I totally appreciate the world is becoming more global. I think many people are jobless or have extra time to go onto wonderful My Lot. I wish every government that could afford it chipped in. Years ago I did a discussion on the most common nationalities of My Lot members. Some My Lot members haven't specified a location.

Interesting point you raise. The world is becoming more and more global as days go by, the Chinese have invested heavily into the American Entertainment complex, I believe, have even purchased AMC, so in all areas of our life, we are now turning into a global civilization. People are now searching for answers to economic and health problems, I think that places like mylot are a good place to begin. many lead in questions can be posted and people of diverse ethnic groups and belief systems can participate in answers, all for a better future. Thank you for participating :)

I fear that this idea will never come to fruition as governments only subsidize causes that will in the longrun benefit them. mylot has no financial gain over Obama and co. And frankly if you could earn a decent wage online the whole world would come to a standstill as we would all be sitting at our PCs eating cake.

LOL, yep, sitting with our youtube videos or netflix running, and our pop and chips by our side, nibbling away, typing day and night, lol. Very true. But it's not just sites like mylot, there are others out there, like Task Rabbit and such. If people cannot get out to get jobs, they do need to find a way to support their families, so who knows? Thanks for adding to the discussion :)

The government can't settle the budget where do you wish the money to come from or do you have some deep pockets that no one knows about

These are all very interesting responses! Me, I'd be for subsidizing sites like this, as people could probably make some money so support their local business establishments, such as food markets and things. Just a suggestion, and I like the diversity of responses received. As with everything, it is something to think about. Thanks for the stimulating discussion, much appreciated.

Thanks for the input. I would, but I do not think that they would do that. But who knows. Good to have you posting on my discussion :)

Well then, maybe you should ask the government to pay your light and gas bill as well.

Yes, it is an idea. There are many things to consider, and there might be ways to make it work. I am not an economist by any means, but I am looking into Ecuador, Iceland and the Latest ruling in Switzerland. They seem to be following 'trickle' up economics, versus trickle down economics. For example, making caps for executive wages, so the companies can afford to hire more workers, and give them a higher minimum wage. Equador is interesting at the moment. There are many different economic models out there, I'm keeping an eye on Iceland at the moment as well, as well as Australia. Time will tell, but hopefully a solution will be found to benefit us all.

No, too much government already and afraid the sites would not be able to stay open.

Why do you want it subsidize? Wouldn't the government would charge the citizens more taxes just for these subsidies? Sometimes people like me wouldn't want to give a single cent to the government if I manage to earn some money online. I mean I see online earning sites like MyLot as a place to make some extra pocket change if the job in real life doesn't offer enough especially when the government took a percentage of our hard earn money to run a country. More subsidies means more taxes.

not a good thought. I have not seen any website subsidized by government.

I don't think this would be an option unless they were subsidising a site which only accepted members from the United States. Much as I'd love to benefit from a scheme like that, it wouldn't make sense for the US government to subsidise my income.
