It's not a question of 'when?'. It is already time to ask 'how?', 'how much?' and 'what can we do about it now (if anything)?'. There's very little point in saying 'Oh, we should have been doing ... 10, 20 years ago!'. The trouble is that there are too many people with their heads still in the sand claiming that all of warming we are seeing is 'natural' and has nothing to do with humanity's use of fossil fuel, destruction of forests and general abuse of the planet we live on. There are probably also too many people, to be fair, who are overstating and scaremongering about the effect we are having and can have on the global climate. While it is imperative that we try to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels (which will eventually become more and more expensive to use until they finally run out) and take more care about the living, breathing parts of the planet (the plants, which use carbon dioxide, trap the carbon and return the oxygen to the atmosphere), it is also vital that we understand how the climate it changing globally and learn how to adapt to and live with the changes.

@owlwings: You are so right but many governments do not want the people to know the consequences of what we have done abd are doing to our world. We have even messed up space with all the junk that is floating around up there

Isn't there something in the Bible about the earth being cursed because we didn't take care of it properly? I was thinking that maybe our area would get warmer in the winter but changed my thinking that maybe we might get colder for the same reason we get warmer in the summer.

So many of my friends in the USA do not bnelieve that this is happening so I tend to stay away from these discussions. But it is happening and the world needs to wake up and see what has happened and is happening. where I live we anow have had hurricanes out of season and the rainy seasons are a thing of the past as it rains any old time.

Hi Rusty. I'm not so sure that ths global warming is all about human interference. There could be some truth to it but I think some of it is natural climate change. The earth has gone through changes before. I used to live in NY and as a kid some winters were cold and some were mild. This winter has been pretty cold here in GA. the winter before was like summer. I only wore a coat 3 times that winter. It was wonderful. We haven't had any snow or ice in about 6 years I think. It was when we had a freak blizzard. We had one in 1996 too.

That's a really interesting link. I wasn't absolutely persuaded by the arguments about climate change until I decided to write an article as an assignment for helium on it, and as I did the research for it I thought it was scary. It does make sense, given the increase in population, and the amount of industrialisation, and increase in human activity, that the climate should be affected, though the main issue is carbon dioxide emissions, which have a greenhouse like effect. Though I did also find out lots of interesting things about renewable energy sources, and we don't have to just rely on ugly windfarms to solve the problem. You are in mexico, aren't yuou? I was reading about renewable energy in mexico and they have massive potential to use renewable energy from geo thermal sources and solar power, and they are actually increasing their renewable capacity quite fast, so mexico might end up saving the world. You will be pleased to hear.

I am sure that we will not see the end of time as we know it by global warming but by the hand of war and man himself that is a whole other story
