Do you normally read all the pages of a book or discussion to get a clear view and picture of it,or else you will be just skimming through just like that to save time and get a approximate view.Where is the thrill here?

This must be quite a formidable task if you encounter an old discussion with 70 or so responses, many of which would bear no relation to what you are personally going to add.

I do skim. I skim through conversation and some description if it is long and drawn out. I wouldn't make it through some books/discussions if I didn't.

I love books! Used to have hundreds. Just couldn't carry them all around with me and had to get rid of some. Many I am sad to lose. Can't replace. I have some favorites that mean alot to me. They are treasures.

I read each and every word of the book. I do not skip any details. Reading books is my hobby. I am not bothered about how much time it takes to read a book. Skipping any details will make me lose interest in the book. It will save time, surely. On websites however, I often skip details. Sometimes, I browse on the internet only to find out something, to get some information. Therefore, I do not mind skipping a lot whch I feel is unnecessary.

I admit I don't read all the pages of a discussion before answering. Sometimes, I am just too tired or in a hurry. I feel it is a choice between answering at all, or reading all the other posts.

I try to read the whole thing most especially if I find it interesting with the fist few sentences. But if the description is not presented in a way to tickle my fancy, then I just go on to the next.

Books I read only for pleasure these days, so I never skim. I like to take in every word if I like the book. If I don't like it after the first few pages, I won't bother with it at all. As for discussion, I must admit that I skim through the replies, but I always read the original post carefully, to make sure I understood the question. Online articles and other reading I skim through, 'coz there's just too much stuff I want to read, and too little time.

Naturally I read all the pages of a book, it would extremely difficult to follow a story without that kind of continuity. It can be a different matter where discussions are concerned, especially in the case of those with 50 or 60 responses. The responses rarely constitute a continuous flow, although it would be necessary to read the whole of a string of replies to a response before adding to it.

This depends on whether its for pleasure or to find the answer to a question that I'm hunting for now. There are days somebody will post about a topic that I want to know more about and a chapter of a book might only cover that subject. Yes I might end up reading the entire book if the book is interesting. Yesterday the topic was history and its one subject that requires hunting down the answer most of the time. It was about a movie that I haven't seen, but now I'm considering watching Lifeboat, an old movie that had many big stars. I knew the topic of the movie, but not who was in it or many of what was in the movie. It turned down to be so interesting that I know want to learn more about why so many actors were willing to take on roles that made them ill.

It depends on the type of book that I am reading. If it is a non-fiction book and I am a looking for a specific topic I sometimes skim the book in order to find the information that I need. Sometimes I am only interested in certain chapters of a non-fiction book and in those cases I just skim the rest of the book. If the topic of the book it is really interesting I might read the entire book. When I read a novel or a short story I read every page because it would be hard to understand the story without reading every page and I wouldn't enjoy the story that much if I only read a part of it. When I read discussions I look at each response, I read some of the sentences and I try to get an impression of the things that the member is writing. Sometimes I don't read all of the details in every response if it is a long response, I just read enough to get an impression of their opinions and the things that they share.

Yes I read all of a book, and if the post is small enough the whole thing but if it were extra long I would skim to see if there was anything good in it.

If the book is related to other books I read before I'll read it through skimming, I don't want to read it in toto.. I just wanted to spot the difference.. But if the books is new to me and found it interesting ..yes I read it from cover to cover..

If I am looking for something in particular, I would normally skim through first. I would just read it in full if I am certain of what it contains or if it is something that I am totally interested in to.

Well I usually skim some parts which in my opinion is not that important. I am looking to get the view of the gist of book or discussion. That way I can save time while still understanding the essence of book or discussion which I'm reading.

I dont skim anything not even discussions. This also increases my knowledge and can also understand different thoughts, the way they think, etc. It quite interesting.

There are some things I may skim if I am just looking for a quick answer or trying to find something when I had already read it.

Depend on the books for sure. I like to skim through for books related to my field. Just find a suitable answer for some condition (I am from technical field). But for novel, fiction, biography etc, I can not do skimming. I will not get complete view if I did it. Reading whole pages will be better.
