I think now candle fashion is lost and now most of the people use emergency light if line is gone. But in some villages still uses candle because candle is less costly no problem of battery in it. In emergency light some time battery problem may arise. Do you like candle or only uses emergency lights. I think some couple do the candle light dinner but still I not know whats the meaning of candle light dinner. Can explain me I want to arrange for my danger and sweet hubby eheheh...but I know they are not interested in it.

Surekha Let me tell you last year due to heavy rain and flood, we didn't had power for 3 days, the battery of emergency lights got discharged in few hours, stock of candles too, fortunately i had 2 lanterns and one petromax light that run on kerosene, we used them; there was one candle that runs on LPG gas; we could manage. About candle light dinner, haha ask my son in law to book a room in a good hotel, eat nice food in candle light; it is fun. I used to do that

Since here it is rarely without the electricity. So I doubt whether the candles are available at my home. Even if I can find the candles, I don't have the lighter to light them on. Perhaps I have to turn on the gas stove to light up the candles But I have torches at home anyway. So I will use the torches if there is no electricity.

I use them even when the electricity is still running. I like the softness of the light. Especially in the evening when watching tv. When there is a power outtage tend to use flashlights more because I don't want candles lite all over the house. I would be nervous about a fire.

I Always burn candles, even in my bedroom. They are hanging on the ceiling. I also burn incense. To me this has nothing to do with electricity but with a relaxing life style. I also don't care to sit in the dark. In my living I just have 1 lamp of 5 watt or so, in my bedroom also just one salt lamp of 5 watt. We all (kids including) do find the "dark" comfortable and candles give atmosphere to the house and keep the good spirit(s) inside.

I have some candles at home. They remind me the time where I was living in the countryside, and I had often power cuts during thunderstorms. I never had a power cut in this town, and I use occasionally the candles for dinners.

We are using lamps connected to a truck battery whenever there is power interruption. It is already i getting critical here in this part of the our country. Every day we have 4 hours brown out. I also use candles but very seldom.

I still use candle. It is much easier to light a candle. Emergency lights need a long time to recharge after every use. It is useless when one forgets to charge it.

Candle is less costly and can be used by middle class people and inverters are usually used by high class people who are able to afford it and inverters take more electricity for charging.

We have UPS at home with double battery connected to it. When power goes, it comes for few hours. I bought emergency lights twice and both the times, it got repaired soon. Candle is easy to light but UPS is still easier as it switches on automatically. Sometimes I do not even know that power has gone. In Candle light dinner, only candles are lit and no other sort of lights will be there. Hence the surrounding will be lit in dim light and eating in that ambiance is a different experience.

I have two candle sticks and these are for show not use. My sister's mother in law lit a candle and then she went to sleep. Her apartment caught on fire and the smoke caused much damage. She had to live in a hotel before moving somewhere else. Fire can be very dangerous. I lived in Kent in the past earlier in time than 2005. Electricity was poor there and we had regular times when it went off. I have a battery operated alarm clock and used lots of torches. I didn't like lighting a candle. In a shop in Glastonbury I saw some artificial lights which would be lovely for a candle lit dinner.

Hi dear Who told you candle is not costly. Earlier it was available at 2 rupees now it increased to 5. We were in winter season, there was not much problem with electricity and no usage of candle too. But summer is coming and we definitely need candle. We have emergency light but on long hours power cut we need the service of candle. However, at present no candle available at home.

A blizzard recently hit my country and fortunately we were able to avoid power cuts during the blizzard, but we made sure that we had a flashlight and some candles ready in case we weren't able to use the lamps during the storm. I have experienced power cuts in the past and in those situations I used candles instead of electricity. I like to use candles in my home even when there are no electricy problems because I think that the candles create a nice atmosphere. I have candles on the tables and candles in the windows. I am a little nervous when I use the candles because we have a cat and one day she almost burned her tail because she jumped from the floor to the table where the candle was burning. Now I prefer to use candle lanterns so that she doesn't get hurt.

as for me, i think it is better to use the emergency light. those that you just recharge and not have to use batteries for it. it is more safe because you don't have to worry about accidents like burning your house, etc..and you don't have to buy lots and candles all the time..

using candle should be done with caution since it may cause some accidents such as fire.. so when you use it put it in a safe place where it is stable and cant be reach by the children.. i still use candles even we have emergency lights specially when there is electrical problem..
