In the third round of Miami Masters, Novak Djokovic is up against a young Indian tennis player, somdev devverman, a player returning from injury and a career high rank of 64. In the past couple of tournaments, somdev has been performing well with beatings players having ranks in 60s and 70s. Although Djokovic should win this match in straight sets, but i would like to see somdev putting up some fight and taking atleast one set into the tie-breaker. please give your opinions

Hi abhi, nice info this. I was not aware of this recently. Infact I couldnt watch the matches as they are scheduled midnight. Coming to Somdev, it will be a great experience for him. Having coming back from injury, it will be a tough ask for Somdev to face the No.1. Hope he puts up a fight. When is the match scheduled?

It is the 4th match on the center court today.. i think it might start somewhere between 12:30 AM - 1:30 AM depending upon the length of the earlier matches scheduled on that court. and i agree with u that it will be a tough task for Somdev. but i do hope that he will show a good fight in the match

if he can pull out a shocker, that will be great. It will give a big boost to his career and will also inspire other young Indian players to reach new heights

I think one thing that Somdev has shown in the past few months is the fighting spirit. He rarely goes down without a fight in a match. So I do expect him to give a tough fight to the Djoker. But, it would be a real tough ask to expect an upset. As you mentioned a tie-break would be a great confidence builder for Somdev. Cheers! Ram

Also, with Paes now retiring we need a new champion to carry India's flag in Tennis. I hope Somdev can fill this gap. Cheers! Ram

yes, i completely agree. Somdev is performing very well in singles and Bopanna is a world class double player. Let us hope that some more players can break into top 200 soon and top 100 in an year or two
