Start by smiling at her to see if you get a response, and perhaps if you are not too shy to casually go over to her and start small talk, you can usually gauge someone's interest in you, by their body language and whether she looks at you straight in the eye. You will only find out one way or the other by approaching her, otherwise you will never know, and she might slip through your fingers. You've got nothing to lose, think of the worst possible scenario, she's not interested. Then you should be proud of yourself for trying.

I would suggest that you try to take the easiest step first. Smile at her. It is something that is not too hard to do and it shows that you are open to friendship and that you like her. This can start small talk, and once you have gathered the courage that you need, you can approach the girl and introduce yourself.

I hope more girls would answer this. I don't want to tell you how coz I am very conversant so I usually just keep being witty all the time. It worked so many times. It is not like I go to someone on the mall and do this. I meet them thru friends gatherings. Ladies, help this young man!

You could always find one who is sitting by herself in the food court reading or listening to music and start the conversation by asking her what she is reading or listening to. I suggest just be yourself. Find someone who seems to be interested in something similar to what your interested in and talk about the shared interest. My favorite to talk about is movies and books. Can never get enough movies and books LOL
