I found a small spider on my bed this morning.

It is my fault because I left the house early today and I thought it would be a good idea to leave the window open in order to get some air and let the sun come inside! When I can back, I found a small spider on my dark blue duvet. I am afraid of spiders but I had to catch it myself, so I wrapped it in a piece of paper while I was screaming! When I said it to my friend, she said that she was reading an article where they stated that people eat on average 8 spiders per year during their sleep! Do you believe that? I don't like it when insects or other bugs come inside my room from the window, so tomorrow I am going to clean my room again in case something else came in and I didn't notice it!

Ohh, I just hate spiders! Big or small, I hate them! I freak and get goosebumps all over my body when I see one. I wish that the eating spider during sleep is not true. I can't really imagine that happening.

I wish it is not true as well. Maybe she said that because she knows that I am so afraid of spiders!

When I was a child I ate an ant. I was playing at the playground and I had a sour taste in my mouth, I still remember it! I realised that I was eating something and I spit out a small ant! It was disgusting!

Well, that's an interesting experience to be shared. Actually it's normal for people who are afraid of bugs in their home. Different people tend to have phobia of different things in their life. I am afraid of some spiders too, but not all. I am afraid of bigger size spiders such as tarantula. It looks scary to me with its furry limbs and body. Besides, other bugs such as cockroach scares me as well. I am grateful that they only appears occasionally within the house. The statistics about 8 spiders swallowed each year is shocking! I think we should keep our closed tightly during our sleep then Thanks again for the sharing and have a nice day in Mylot!

imagine waking up with a spider in your mouth or worst lodged in your throat and you are just awake enough to swallow it knowing it is a spider, especially for those who are afraid of spiders, yucks , even for those like me who are not afraid of spiders, i still find the thought revolting, what if it was a huge spider, it will choke ,are you sure your friend's article said that,8 spiders a year swallowed in their sleep? i am not sure but i will take it with a pinch of salt. I don;t think i have swallowed any in my sleep here .must be referring to some place where therer is a lot of spiders

Snoring or sleeping with an open mouth can be hazardous to your health , is the message here..i can think of not only spiders but there are other creepy crawlies that may take up the open invitation to a damp and warm environment, cockroaches ..yikes , mozzies perhaps flies attracted by the scent of bad breath as one sleeps and breathes out the day's meals mixed with the bacteria in mouth, , even a lizard losing their grip and dives straight in,my imagination on the possibilities scares meself, thats it , i m gonna clean out all the webs on my ceiling in the bedroom..and spray a good dose of insecticide just to be sure..

Hahaha! I don't know, that's what she said but I didn't really want to look into it! If this happened to me, I am pretty sure that I would immediately go to the bathroom to trow up and take it out! I think that I never sleep with my mouth open, this will probably be a bigger problem for the people who snore and leave their mouth open while they are asleep.

I don't really scared or hate spiders. But it's sure I don't like to have any spider on my bed. Oh, I hope I would never see any on my bed, let alone to swallow any spider.

Fear of spiders is an irrational fear but I guess if you have this fear it does not help you if I tell you spiders are valuable and do a good service. Anyway, spiders are carnivours and live on minute insects that exist in every house no matter how often you clean. Also if you have no window screens as is the case in most mediteranian countries chances are all kinds of little insects will come in. I live in a highrise with window and balcony door screen and very few insects come into the house, however, every now and then there will be a spider. So I catch it gently by putting a glass or cup over it and then transport it to the balcony to release it. Where I live it is considered bad luck to kill a spider. As for swallowing spiders in your sleep I think that may be a folklose or myth. In any case if it is true apparently it does not harm people but I hope it is not true.

When I was living in the city I didn't have such problems either! All animals - insects and organisms are valuable for the good function of the nature! But I get a feeling of panic every time I see a spider, even though I am actually trying to take deep breaths and calm down! lol I really hope that it is a myth too, I can't imagine that I might have swallowed a spider during my sleep!

I don`t mind spiders unless it`s the brown recluse, the only poisonous spider we have here. In fact I welcome those daddy-long-legs sort of spiders from the garden as they eat brown recluse`s eggs

It's good that we don't have poisonous spiders over here! The one that I found was very small, in the size of half my pinky finger nail! I would be terrified if we had dangerous spiders around the house! You sound really brave!

Thank you, that's what I am going to do today! I had cleaned it recently but this time I will be more thorough because spiders tend to hide in small corners or high near the ceiling! Have a wonderful day!

A bit scary whenever I see some insects on bed, you do right, better you should not open the door when you are not at home, who knows some insects can get in your house and stay somewhere else. We should be careful...

Yes I know that I shouldn't do that. During the winter nothing comes in because everything is frozen outside! lol But now it's spring and there are many insects that might enter my room from the window. I was always concerned about the flying ones but I guess I should be careful for the spiders and other bugs as well!

i also hate spiders, but when i see them i usually get the slipper and smash them immediately, that way there will be no spider around hidden in a room. after smashing them i would sweep them out and throw them in the garbage,.i have never heard about that people eat spiders in their sleep.,and i don't believe in that too. i think it is best to clean your room to get rid of some bugs and insects there. they are all a pests!

Yes, I don't like bugs and dust so I am cleaning my room regularly! I think spiders like clean places more than the dirty ones because they are the only thing that I have found so far! I am also very thorough with the high places near the cealing or the corners where they might be hiding. It's probably because there is a garden outside so it's easier for bugs to come in.

Hi, There is no one in our house who is afraid of spiders. But we don't want any spider in our house because they make our house dirty with webs. In our country it is a superstition that if a spider falls on our body we will get new clothes. In the childhood I think that it is true. And we got happy when any spider fell on my body.

Lol :) This superstition might sound nice, at least you get something good out of it after the first shock! My family isn't afraid of spiders, like you. I don't know how they do it, I just get panicked every time!

What your friend told you is according to a research but i don't think that there is any need to scream when you see a spider after all. you can get rid of it by just putting insecticides in your home. I think you understand what im trying to convey to you. hope that will help...

Hi! Thanks for the advice! To be honest, I don't like putting chamicals in the house or spraying around and breath them when I am in the room so I just clean regularly. I didn't look into what she said because I was afraid that it might be true! But yes, I also think that it's just a rumour that people say to terrify the people who are afraid of spiders!

I wasn't always afraid of them, but now I am scared of the smallest spider that I might see! I hope I won't have to see any spiders today during my cleaning!

I would be screaming too, I have a fear of spiders. As soon as I see a cob web in my room I am right there tearing my room apart and cleaning it up and down to get rid of cob webs and spiders. So i don't blame you for wanting to clean out your room because usually when you see one spider there is more. I'm not sure if it's true that we swallow spiders in our sleep but I hope not, that's so gross.

I also hope that it's not true! I do the same with spiders but this time it came in from the window and I am not sure if I will be able to find anything. Hopefully, it was the only spider that entered my room but a good cleaning is always needed so I will be very thorough today!

I hate spiders also, I don't like them at all, they really scared me,when I see a spider I will beat it with a broom, and you don't want a spider to bite you either, that could really be dangerous,I don't leave any windows open, in the spring or summer time.

I leave the windows open every monrning, at least for a while in order to refresh the air in the room. But I rarely leave them open when I leave the house, I am usually around there getting ready or working on my laptop.
