The most depressing time of my whole life. My mom has a colon cancer..

We just recently knew that my mom has a colon cancer after doing a checkup with a doctor. I think it had been there for quite some time already, as she had been complaining of having a hard time doing her bowel movement for more than a month already before she decided to go for a checkup thinking that it was just nothing. Everyone in the family was really devastated about the result of the test when the doctor said that my mom is already on stage four of her cancer and until now we don't even know what we should to. Chemo therapy as the common and well known way to cure cancer was also quite scary, as for some readings that I have done, it was said to make the patients really weak and susceptible to infection. We are still currently thinking if there are other ways to cure her cancer besides chemo therapy, although chemo therapy would really be very expensive for us we only consider it as our last resort if there are no other ways to cure her cancer. I'm still not ready about anything not good that would happen and I hope and pray that she would really get well soon. Do you know of anyone who had successfully cured their cancer? Would appreciate any inputs of this. Thanks guys and happy mylotting.

I am ever so sorry to hear that your mother has got colon cancer. It must be a devastating time for you and the other members of your family. I know some people that have beat cancer. The best thing to do is take her for treatment as soon as possible. I think that your mother should see a very kind, thoughtful and understanding doctor. She could also see a place where they homeopathic help. This might not be enough though so it would be wise to speak to both experts. Good luck to your mother and I hope she will be made better.

Have you done any research? There are three mushrooms that have proven to help and CoQ10. Vitamin E fights the cell damage. There is also a book called Beating Cancer with Nutrition.

I'm so sorry to hear that your mom has a colon cancer. I think if any of our loved ones do have this disease, we will feel the same way too. To tell you the truth, Stage 4 Colon Cancer is really so hard to cured. It's the most dangerous stage. Even the former President of the Philippines, Cory Aquino was not able to survive. My thoughts and Prayer is for your Mom and your family. This should be a wake up for your family now that one has this disease.

My mom had endometrium cancer when I was a freshman in college. It was very hard for all of us. She even had to wear a wig. She couldn't even dress herself in the morning. We had to change our lifestyle because she couldn't do the things she used to do. My mom had Stage III cancer at the time. But you know what? After one and a half year, she was cured. Don't give up hope cyclopz! The first months are always the hardest. I hope that your mom gets better. :D

Hi cyclopz, I was diagnosed three years ago with an incurable lymphoma Non Hodkings, stage 4. I asked my oncologist what were the odds and what should we do. She said that was was done was chemotherapy. That it was a non agresive kind of cancer, but that chemo would not cure it, only maybe, with luck, stop it for some time. When we talked about it we did not know what stage it was (I needed a bone marrow test for that). Besides all the extra bad things (my age, sedentary life and 50 years of smoking), she said that the most people lived was 10 years, but that would have been if I had not been on stage 4. So chemo started. And after 6 months of living in a house that was mantained spotlessly clean, of not even letting my grandchildren come to stop infections, besides extra shots (Neupogen) to build me up enough so as to be able to accept chemo, here I am. I am on a follow up treatment, I went to the Caribbean last year and will go to Mexico for 2 weeks this year between treatments and I plan my life for 3 months. Noone knows what the future will bring. But we can live our life to the fullest. And now, thinking that I never told this to other friends here, I will turn this to a copy-paste post now, because I am thinking that my experience might help other people. Carpe diem!!!

What could be more devastating news than this :( Sorry to hear about your mom's condition. I know someone who suffered the same health issues and undergo chemo since it's the best way - though not to cure but to prolong life. I am sure she will be fine- just follow the doctors advice.

I think you should consider the removal of the colon surgically. Though this would mean dietary change for live and also maybe confinement to the house still, the cancer would go away if it has not spread out to the body. I have ulcerative colitis and doctors have said that it will turn into colon cancer some day. And when that happens, I would have to get my colon removed as I too cannot afford chemo.

Your mom may suffer a lot of pain from the chemo itself. But I hope she can be able to withstand the pain. Just don't lose hope. My husband's aunt had the same condition about 8 years ago. Fortunately, it was detected early and so she was just given an operation and was under medication for about 5 months. And it never recurred. She has no traces of having cancer.
