HIPAA laws guarantee the safe keeping of information about your health. It appears that some of the gun control laws are requiring that people who take particular drugs to be banned from being able to have guns. This apparently is happening in New York on with their new control law. Doctors are required to inform the state police about people taking certain prescription. Which appears to violate HIPAA laws. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/09/a-form-of-gun-confiscation-has-reportedly-begun-in-new-york-state-heres-the-justification-being-used/ http://potterwilliamsreport.com/2013/01/17/obama-goes-after-hipaa-gun-control-targets-patient-privacy.aspx

I've had to take classes on HIPAA. I have said this very same thing. But I've also tried to point out the hypocrisy of the left to no avail too. I feel as if we are living in the Twilight Zone or we've fallen down the rabbit hole, or maybe we just need to take the red pill and wake up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arcJksDgCOU but then we might actually HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ALL!!

The government doesn't have to obey its own laws... right? Especially when it comes to privacy of its citizens. ("Its" being a very possessive pronoun.)

It does sound like there is a problem. Is there any fine if the Dr.s don't comply? I would think there would be if the patient got into trouble with the law.
