How to get a pan card in India?

To whom do we need to approach in order to get a pan card in India? What is the procedure? How lng does it take to get pan card after application? does it com eby post?
Do they have any police enquiry like they do in passport? Will they give phone call for enquiry?

All your questions should be answered here: http://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html Since you state your age as 30 on your profile, I would expect that you already have a PAN card number allocated to you.
Alternatively you can use a number of sites similar to this: http://www.utitsl.co.in/pan/ who will help you with the application and process it for you.

Thank you for the information.
I am not yet alloted a pan number. In India, it is not compulsory for everybody. But to get money from paypal, it has now been made compulsory.
